Even if the bandwidth is cheaper there’s way less regs reregs avs plat search etc being sold. You only get that tenbux once. Upselling doesn’t work if you treat your users like shit, especially new ones.

Has anyone tried to figure out how much money is wasted on forum emotes? That and avatar changes are the only non-rereg source of repeat income.

People still told their friends via posting links onto forums and chat rooms, i.e. "the original social media". By intentionally kneecapping modern social media sharing options on the website Lowtax is only expediting its death. Yeah, Twitter and Facebook are fucking garbage, but literally millions of people use them. That's a lot of potential eyeballs.

The thing that drew me to SA in the first place was the articles. You know, the ones that Lowtax has been too fucking lazy to work on for years (still waiting on the Notch article, buddy).

But he CAN blame the users for turning the forums (by his own admission in this very thread) into a joyless far-left circle jerk. And he can blame himself for letting it happen.
 
Anyone I've ever met that was a reddit/4chan type either knew about SA and refused to have anything to do with it due to it's $10 fee or immediately mocked the idea once they found out it had a $10 fee.

Getting Lowtax to drop the fee and work on advertising/content/merchandise/forums flair and whatever else that would actually be profitable would be impossible because he is as stupid as he is lazy. People begged him to sell merch for years and he finally went with the most expensive and laziest option resulting in uploading a logo and selling $35 amazon t-shirts he made like $2 on.
 
Lowtax runs a "comedy" site but he isn't funny and never has been, so it's been doomed to fail since day 1. He tripped into success simply for being in the right place at the right time in internet history. None of his success was due to his business savvy, it was in spite of it.

If he had made a small section for free users to post on, like 8 years ago, maybe the forums wouldn't be such a graveyard now. Pretty much anything would've worked to his benefit at this point in the game, instead of what he actually did: absolutely nothing.
 
David Wong was actually significantly funnier than Lowtax in the same time period, but his forums weren't. dryb0nes is right. It was all luck and leeching off the content of funnier people on his boards.

If I recall someone posted a sex tape video called unclefucker and had a melt down over it.

@Lowtax SA isn't an "anti-social media site", it's a site where the worst aspects of leftist social media are concentrated into a slurry of pure filth then pumped down the user base's throats whether they like it or not.

And why the fuck would anyone tell their friends to join up, SA is a toxic as fuck leftist echo chamber. It would be humiliating having your friends angry at you because they got probated or banned one day in for disagreeing with the shrieking pit of Communist lunatics that populate and run your shithole site (providing that anyone could be convinced to spend money on a fucking web forum account in the first place).

If you want to fix your site the first step is getting someone who isn't a far-left nutcase to replace ZDR (and undo all the backdoors that I'm certain he's installed in the event that you do exactly this). Then remove the rest of the mod team.

ZDR cucks Lowtax so much it's hard to keep track of.

There was the time Lowtax shared a photoshop from here and said that SA needed to be funny again, which caused a meltdown from the woke posters for associating with this site and ZDR threatened to quit, Lowtax disappeared.

Later Lowtax posted that Tranny, Retard and Faggot were allowed to be posted, that's when Ashley went to D&D and said that not everyone is a racist, which caused Koala March to immediately call her a racist before ZDR changed the name of the thread to mock Ashley while closing it. ZDR that time was posting about how he "Had one foot out the door already."

Even later Lowtax made the Shmorky thread and permabanned the people who were trying to shit it up and close it, ZDR reversed the permabans and threatened to quit in an even bigger tantrum so the thread was gassed.

Even later Lowtax made a Mandy thread with her facebook posts, ZDR threatened to quit again and when Lowtax kept the thread up ZDR deleted all of his posts in protest and has been mostly silent since.

Who knows how many times Lowtax has been cucked behind the scenes if it's being done so many times publicly.
 
All the talk about being "anti-social media" most likely has nothing to do with content. I almost guarantee that he's just putting down the ground work against modern forums things like post ratings and easy linking as a way to argue that SA has nothing to gain from upgrading software.
