The only thing SA offers nowadays is a critical mass of posters to interact with in a traditional forums setting. It sure as fuck isn't producing anything creative or funny anymore.

SA used to be a one-stop shop but for the first time in years I'm posting across multiple forums.
And child pornography. Can’t forget about their number one cashcow.

100% spot on, and there are still a small handful of mods who understand this. Star Wars Sex Parrot, for example, basically took a "hands-off unless there's shit everywhere" approach in YOSPOS and it worked well. Gendo in SAS was another good moderator (although I think I heard that he lost it at some point).

They're not ALL shit, it's just that you only hear about the ones that are shit. You're right, the better a moderator is, the less they're noticed.
Punchsport Pagoda (the wrestling/mma/other combat sports subforum) under Fatherdog was another good example of a good mod. You could probably count the number of probations, let alone bans, he did on one hand.

EPG was in the right, abbreviating names (especially of relatively obscure stuff) and then not even naming it in the thread itself was supergay. Moderating like that was part of what originally made the forums better than your average ten year old infested shit pile.

Then she tried to virture signal about femisism while writing rape erotica.

It wasn't just rape erotica. It was rape, incest, and bestiality fiction written under the pen name Kali Lowe. While she was employed in the classics department of Rutgers University.

Sure, but he shouldn't have spazzed out. Could have done with just asking.

It's probably terrible to actually post there but I do get enjoyment from spectating some things.

Today's comedy comes from the VA governor race. For whatever reason a ton of the SA leftists are downright jubilant that the democrat won. A blow has finally been struck against Donald Drumpf! Somehow! They have been crying for a solid year every day about the big meanie piss orange man! Once their afterglow is gone and they realize this means nothing that will be pretty funny. They usually start taking out their frustrations on each other pretty quickly.

I guess I find human misery hilarious and Something Awful being middle aged nerds that can't cope with anything outside of Something Awful is a rich feeding ground.

Ive never played a NOLF game and I knew what it stood for.

Also note that the NOLF2 thread is from 2002 when Lithtech was a relevant engine and NOLF had just recently come out and been a surprise hit. I don’t necessarily expect people to know the acronym in 2017, but when the thread was created, I don’t see a problem.

If I was talking about big name video games in 2017 and I mentioned “CoD” and “AC”, is it unreasonable to expect people to know the games I’m talking about?

Animal Crossing or Assassin's Creed? People might make the mistake. I think there might be some lesser CoD out there too, but I can't for the life of me remember what it is.

edit: And if you really wanted to fuck with people you'd make it an Asheron's Call thread.

The amount of effort it took do be a dick on the internet is many times what it would have taken to just fucking Google it.

Point taken but in 2002 and the acronym NOLF (and a reference to the LithTech engine)? There was really only one thing it could be.

That was just one example of EPG being an asshole, though. There are plenty more.

A $10,000 penalty to withdraw $10,000 from an IRA? He does realize non-brain damaged people will read that, right? Or people who have withdrawn early from retirement accounts and will know he's lying?

Forum revenue is down and Ambien prices have gone up. Its hard to be a GTR leasing, sexhaver jokeman who owns a business but is too busy having sex, telling jokes, and being forty damn years old to be a adult businessman.

I wonder how much a Patreon would make if he made one.

People kept suggesting he make one

He responded by trying to start a youtube gaming channel nobody cared about, people suggested maybe instead make a patreon for the forums

He responded by trying to start a podcast nobody cared about, people suggested maybe instead make a patreon for the forums

He responded by telling everyone to donate to his confusing no effort patreon with no content that is for his podcast/gaming channel and saying it was also for the forums

https://www.patreon.com/GamingGarbage

Currently at $702 a month.

I'm sure if he actually did work and made a proper patreon and turned into a content creator he would get more but all he is going to do is sit around and wait for the debt to close down the forums, then after a few days of downtime goons will lose their minds and open up their wallets enough to get him by without doing any work for awhile longer.

I have to say I am legitimately impressed at the lengths he will go to not have to do any fucking work.

The only reason SA has any activity at all is that the terrible mods are too lazy to completely ruin whatever is left of it. If you had more moderators or the existing ones had the stamina of Wikipedia admins then SA would have finally died a long time ago.

I find it kind of funny that the WoW subforum started getting more probations AFTER it lost it's dedicated moderator.

Incoherence and Bad Seafood, the former mods of the WoW and anime subforums, were pretty good. I can't think of another mod I had ever interacted with on SA that did a notably good job, though.

I’m losing money thanks to my shitty mods and admins. Better not do a damn thing about it.

This is classic, stubborn Lowtax. He knows what it will take to fix the forums but he won’t do it because it means admitting he made a mistake in selecting FAU as admin. He hasn’t changed in bit.
