It's not a scam. You might not like what she's doing but it's clearly not a scam.

She's just openly begging for money to spend on computers and shit. A scammer would have made up a good reason to donate to her that goes past "GIB ME DATS".

I don't know anything about where she lives, but could be the economy sucks? Pretty much any entry level job in half the fields you could look, from burger flipping to IT, are impossible to find here after a few American companies decided to pull out.

Theoretically her mental illness and sick grandmother could be an issue, but I'm pretty sure she's not in bad enough shape to use it as an excuse when she is apparently on the verge of literally starving.

That might just be me being optimistic, though.

e: She claims finding a job isn't working. I might have sympathy if she could at least PRETEND she was going to spend the money on something else.

She’s had jobs in the past but can’t keep them because of her “anxiety” which is code for can’t show up to work on time and doesn’t listen to her boss.

It kinda was, or at least had an extremely high likelihood of becoming one.

She set up a Patreon account, ostensibly as a slush fund for needy members of the gorilla ghetto forum, with only herself as executor. On SA, home of the 5 million page "Goons get scammed again" threads. With a wishlist of PC components, a laptop, a car and a recurring food request, how much do you think was going to end up left over for Jamal's back child support? If the troons found out about the thread, there'd be 50 re-regs pretending to black fibromyalgia suffers adding their Amazon wishlists as well.

Don't get me wrong, I wish the whole shebang went through without interference. The crying and the rage would have been entertaining reading once the inevitable fallout began.

We don't know that her story about needing money for software and a computer to do contract work is true, or even whether her home life is as fucked-up as she's claiming.
