The merch recommendation thread that Rich pinned a few months ago had some pretty funny/cool ideas. Like a shirt that was a band shirt except instead of tour dates on the back it would be your rapsheet with all the probes/bans on the back.

He needs to get a merch connection and an artist if he really wants people to buy merch and not waste time on making cafe press shirts that cost $30.

That's a hilarious idea but I don't think the modstapo would approve of their swift justice being treated like street cred. I think they'd rather lowtax sell cat-o-nine-tails with one more tassel for every ban or probate so that you can properly flagellate yourself for telling jokes that are no longer on the approved list.
 
All of these designs look lazy and hastily scrapped together. The whole thing is desperate and sad. Shit, even stuff like the SA grenade on mugs and enamel key chains would be a better choice. I can't imagine anyone buying any of this stuff.

Some guy in that thread said he makes shirts for bands that cost $3 each to make. He could make those shirts and sell them for $15 plus a few bucks for first class shipping.

Get some shipping bags with a self sealer, a label printer, and have USPS pick up the package when you're ready to ship. That's it. There are people in the thread with experience with this shit telling him the best way to do it so he can maximize his profit but he just won't listen.

You know what's hilarious? One of my friends has an art degree and is currently unemployed, I told him about Lowtax looking for a graphic designer after he locked that thread on GBS and my buddy reached out to him via email thinking he might be able to get another bullet point on his résumé. He supplied Lowtax with examples of things he'd done in the past, people he's worked with/done merch for, etc and Lowtax simply never got back to him- this was maybe a month ago. Lowtax is an incredibly lazy man who can't even follow through on the most basic of tasks.
 
That's one way to try and raise money for the ol' forum.

In SA's defense here, they're 100% correct about Star Citizen and its inevitable failure.

But just like everything else on SA, they take it so fucking seriously it's stopped being funny and now it's almost as sad as the dudes buying ships.

I used to agree until my brother's buddy from school started working there and dished on the place. It's actually pretty much on the level of every other major game studio. The money is getting spent on the game itself and progress does get made in some shape. Its just never going to come out in the next few years and when it does it will be missing half the promised features. The nerds who fund it for the most part are aware of it and dont find issue with it, so I say just let them be and go on with life.
