These posts are several years old but are relevant to the current SA problem (2013 was peek sjw goon). This was around the first time Lowtax decided to "fix" the forums. Anyone interested in more of these?

Holy shot Lowtax's idea of "white noise" ratings and filters is his most retarded idea so far

The whole SOCJUS brigade managed to kill the website by using LF, the Helldump, then IRC, as a platform to organize raids to shit on users they don't like and get threads closed. At least they had to fucking post in those threads.

Now they just have to vote any posts any users any threads they don't like to make them disappear.

@Lowtax you fucking retard how hard is it to just let people post what they want as long as it's not illegal? Good posts and threads will be rewarded that way and shit will just die off for being shit. Ambien, mangosteen wine and feet sniffing really killed your brain.
 
Safe to say @Lowtax just sees that shit on other sites and decides he wants it. The why and how get about as much attention as running the forums: none.

When I've ended up as staff on a site I posted a on a lot, my posting habits didn't change, didn't need to because I largely stuck to seriousposting and am more interested in talking things out with people rather than getting mad at a conflicting opinion or when I'm shown to be wrong/stupid. I wasn't the sort of user who longed for the ablity to get one over on the other users so the only thing that really changed was ending up needing to interact with parts of the board that I didn't really care for or have a stake in.

It's mostly about picking good posters to be mods in the first place, and to SA's credit, when people talk about shitty staff they're generally referring to admins(and their regular poster friends), GBS mods, D&D mods, and to a lesser extent folks like FluffieDuckie and Ralp who are still shitty but haven't had the same impact.
 
Forums need staff not superstars who get jerked off by the user base until they are monsters.

Edit: except the wonderful mod and admin team here at kiwi I love them they are great and I would let them cum right in my mouth.

Lowtax is also hugely resentful that people who "got their start" on SA no longer post there and that SA can't attract people of any consequence any more. A fair amount of people well known in their field post on reddit, and of course it attracts name people for AMAs - despite it being a horrible format.

A lot of that just has to do with SA not keeping up with the times and change happening at a glacial pace. People have so many more platforms available to them than when SA first started and they can attract bigger audiences elsewhere. There's no longer any reason for minor "celebrities", or people hoping to become minor celebrities, to even consider SA. It's not one of the "hot" places on the internet any more.

There's nothing about SA these days which is going to attract high quality posters, and I don't even know if that can be fixed. I definitely don't think trying to return the focus to the front page is the answer. Other forums which grew up around a "front page" seem to be struggling just as much.

And it's not like he didn't have the opportunity. Lowtax hasn't worked a day job since 2004. He had a good income stream and unlimited free time, so what did he do? Did he go back to school to try to finish his Engineering degree? Did he go to the community college and take some classes about coding, so when he hired coders for his site he wouldn't be speaking from a position of complete ignorance? Did he take some small business management classes, so he could learn how to grow and attract new users? Or hell, at least try to learn a trade, like welding or auto repair?

No, he just farted around with his beepity boopity music, make wacky zany videos, buy expensive cars, and pass out on the passing out couch.
