SA became a tranny hugbox because of a million shitty mods enabling them and banning opposing views. Those shitty mods and admins got their start because Ozma pushed for them. Fistgrrl got Ozma modded because they were friends. Fistgrrl got admin'd in part because she's EPG's common law wife or whatever. EPG, I believe, knew Lowtax before SA was a thing and used to write for a quasi-SA-like site (hence 'Geist Editor') before Lowtax brought him in to SA as one of the first writers other than himself.
So, patient zero is either EPG or Lowtax himself depending on ones point of view. Personally, I think it's EPG (his descent from "your poison womb is making heaven too fucking crowded" to nice, inoffensive nu-male is easy to document) and that while Lowtax should've stepped in and stopped the insanity, there was no specific watershed moment that forced his hand but rather a long, slow slide into unfunny irrelevancy where things were working well enough that it wasn't worth it to him to rock the boat.
