LF back in the day used to make jokes about how everyone on TFR is a closet Klan member so it's nice to know nothing has changed in 15 years.
Well, at least the left-libertarians who mainly make the current TFR demographic get to learn that they can't just agree on 99.5 percent of all issues, they must agree on 100 percent. Gun bad because trust-fund communists still think that trying to legislate the AR-15 away somehow means those mean chuds won't have access to them whenever they next protest the current cause celebre.

To this Thread i ask:
What site was the true predeccesor to the Farms?
Was it SA's Helldump 2000?
Was it Metokur?
Or was it when the CWC forums started to expand to other lolcows?

I think PoE is probably right. But the flame war section of Stile was close.

Reddit was created by Fark posters

Used the internet archive to go back to a 2003 capture of portal of evil and man this is such a cool little slice of the old internet.

Man. Is that a 32 meg stick for 15 bucks? I better jump on that.
One of the few places i could find info about it was this article on the wikifur, so my best guess is that was a wild ride while it lasted
Yup. And oh boy a mention of crossaffliction. Dude was an old Vivisector regular.

It was pretty fun back then. Best way to describe it would be a web 1.0 webring of the KF community threads. Each site would get its own forum. Since it was more about finding the next site to go "what the fuck?" with the forums died pretty quickly rather then being long lasting documentation though there was some would get get into the 1000 counts.

As with all forums it eventually degenerated into forum clique bullshit especially when they put in a chat.

I'm pretty sure that SA had a link to PoE on the main page.
And PoE had it back to SA as well. There was alot of "Those assholes at SA stole a feature to use in their awful link of the day and ruined the site!" mentality since PoE was big on the prime directive rule of not interacting with the featured site.

What about my posting career?

Don't forget weird Twitter

Sass

The new effort

And

Somethingsensitive

Those were all spin offs of late SA when PoE was around the same time as early SA.

Well...it seems my question not only garnered good feedback and information, but it also bring back some good memories of the wild west and edge that was the Web 1.0, so from what is being gathered here is that the kiwi-farms are somewhat of a coalescence of various forums cultures and users, some are former goons, some are edgelords settling one of the last bastions on the internet were they can let themselves go, some are exiles from some chan , forum or site that fell out of grace and some madmen may even be PoE veterans , for me it is really amazing to hear stories of what came before, yeah maybe the speed and navigation experience may have been shit compared with the ease and tools we have today, but it would have worth it

The guy who cofounded it and has a family now would probably disagree with this.

Whenever a comparison gets made somewhere along the way it seems like a collective wave of resentment and disgust ripples through the alumni of those places. Overall I get the feeling KF is something nobody wants to talk about but is occasionally forced to, like having a very embarrassing kid with emotional problems that you would have picked on claiming to have been part of your club. You wonder years later if they were arrested or sent to a psych ward but at some point you get the grimace-inducing news they're still free to roam around in public. Helldump singled out furries and autists and autistic furries to pick on but it was more like "this person is a creepy nerd" and not Westboro Baptist level screeching about how physically and spiritually ugly the person is and hundreds of self-serious essays about how their existence is the downfall of civilization.

At some point I remember the new sass owner or moderator or something showing up on SA years ago and they called him a retard and kept posting that supposed picture of their meetup (it was a group of dumpy Gen X men sitting in deck chairs wearing leather jackets and smoking cigars, obviously thinking they looked cool as fuck) which was pretty funny. Those guys were such insufferable lunatics I think the owner himself got fed up and threw the website in the trash. Which is good because a few of them were psycho enough it seemed like they actually wanted to physically harm Ozma. Anyway that's the closest one culture-wise.
Imagine four copied SASS OPs on the edge of a page of threads. The formerly first thread becomes the second, the second becomes the third, and the fourth gets banned because it slighted a pedophile moderator.
Time works the same way.

Time is a flat puzzle piece.
