I do enjoy that SA jannies are so terminally online that they can ban someone for a crime faster than the Chicago Police Department can book them for it.

Something awful’s weird culture around Insta banning though is quite strange here. I’m not saying that he shouldn’t be banned for killing a child. What I’m saying is why they need to do it so quickly? It’s honestly just make something awful look bad that you have a user that’s literally banned under the reason “murdered a child“. It honestly just raises more questions than answers.
I don’t know if they think it’s cool/edgy to have a user that’s banned for literal child murder, but in a world full of mentally ill troons, who molest and kill children regularly + a significant portion of them use your website… this is what the kids would call a “bad look“.


I mean, what are something awful jannies really afraid of? That he’s going to somehow get access to the Internet while in jail and post on something awful? If this dude ever gets to see the Internet again, it’s to quickly google “how to not go away forever for murder“ or “how to transition to a woman in jail“. I doubt he’s gonna be logging onto his favorite dead forum to discuss the finer points of why he hates children and why they deserve to be shot in the face.

Also, I’m not the only one seeing this right?

The banning of a killer seems so oddly petty to me. Like yeah, of course he's a monster, but I keep imagining this energy of "You're going to jail AND you can't post here anymore!" like he's ever gonna see the light of day again.

I'm sure you know, but it's called sweeping things under the rug, or hiding any involvement, and in the slimiest way.

SomethingAwful's community is also much, much worse than even the Farms. The Farms does its best to encourage neutral ground and good behavior with discipline even for shitposting, and Null and the more affable of the Farms even recommends going outside and not coming back for sometime to avoid echo chamber groupthink, circlejerking tyranny of the majority, getting advised by the devil when your hands are idle, and to avoid grasping for blackpills. There are also some users here that I'll not state I also have beef with, but for everyone's sake I do my best to avoid them and be extremely aware and mindful of getting invested to the point I'll one day get unhygenic with my infosec. "Agree to disagree".

SomethingAwful however breeds echo chamber horseshit and does not encourage thinking for yourself. If the entire community is in on it, you're a pariah if you aren't. They are one of those hypocritical "we are openminded" nerd sausagefests where their ideals are good on paper but they do not put them into practice unless it serves them to gain something. They are also filled with social conformist wannabes who are too busy caring what society thinks of them and jealously wanting what Chad and his buddies already have yet lack social awareness and knowledge that life is more than to consuume and to keep up with the joneses. tl;dr they are a bunch of nasty, bitter cocksuckers.

KiwiFarms may be baddest of the bad, but it states it openly and makes no bullshit about it. SomethingAwful is a twisted form of 90s nerd cynicism where they'll be glad to move in to be king for the day because "they'll be calling the shots because they know everything". Fuck Goons and may they all get bullets fired at them in Minecraft.
