Something Awful is so dead and gay that I don't even bother to visit anymore to look at their retarded drama. But I did today, so let me tell you about it.
I'm sure some of you remember Plinkey. He's a C-Spam goon (i.e. he's got more faggotry than a black hole's got gravity), and he ran a "goon fund". It entailed goons donating money to
a Patreon, and Plinkey ostensibly distributing it to goons in need.
It had been going for, oh, three years now. The Patreon was bringing in about $3.5k per month on average (peaking at over $5k earlier this year), so lifetime proceeds are over $100k. Plinkey is the sole person handling this money. At some point he talked about registering the fund as a charity, but it turned out that involves doing some work and filing documents, so that idea was dropped.
Two key characteristics of this goon fund were:
1) Goons could only apply for small amounts of money, like $50 "to buy some paper to wipe their ass" or something.

2) No oversight or accountability whatsoever. Plinkey never listed goons who had received assistance or how much money had actualy been spent each month, and responded in an incredibly pissy manner to anyone who questioned his methods.

So there's no real data on how the funds were distributed. However, judging by the number of posts in the goon fund thread saying "thanks Plinkey", we can extrapolate that up to 20 goons per month received assistance (and that's being charitable and assuming that for every grantee who posted in the thread, there are three who didn't).
That's maybe $1,000–1,500 per month used for the fund's designated purpose. Figuring out where the rest of the money was going is an exercise left to the reader.
A while ago it exploded in drama, because goons somehow, against all odds, finally realized this was shady as hell. Though due to the intentionally opaque nature of the whole thing, there was no hard proof he was skimming or how much. Over a month ago Plinkey promised he would post some spreadsheet showing his expenditures, but never did. Today, Jeffster had finally had enough.

Obviously, this is just retard-on-retard violence, so no real harm has been done. Just stupid goons once again giving money to a grifter. Socialism! (btw, there is already a new C-Spam goon fund in the making, but this time it will have some kind of politburo committee supposedly keeping everything in check; good luck with that)
