Lol, absolutely nothing about Somethingawful can ever be considered 'happily ever after', just a couple of weeks ago there was almost full scale war between GBS and CSPAM, again. There will always be some fucking bullshit between different parts of the forum along with internecine bickering among the mods and admins, its only a matter of time before Jeffrey really finds out how miserable a place it is.

Honestly, the way in which the forums have developed in such a sordid fucking way with Lowtax's rotten stench seeped into the wordwork and the insane story behind him leading to one of the most high profile internet suicides of all time is really something. Goons just shove their heads into the sand about this as they do about everything, they can't get away from it no matter how much they try to joke about it, alive or dead the forums are truly defined by Lowtax and his influence.

Something Awful is so dead and gay that I don't even bother to visit anymore to look at their retarded drama. But I did today, so let me tell you about it.

I'm sure some of you remember Plinkey. He's a C-Spam goon (i.e. he's got more faggotry than a black hole's got gravity), and he ran a "goon fund". It entailed goons donating money to a Patreon, and Plinkey ostensibly distributing it to goons in need.

It had been going for, oh, three years now. The Patreon was bringing in about $3.5k per month on average (peaking at over $5k earlier this year), so lifetime proceeds are over $100k. Plinkey is the sole person handling this money. At some point he talked about registering the fund as a charity, but it turned out that involves doing some work and filing documents, so that idea was dropped.

Two key characteristics of this goon fund were:

1) Goons could only apply for small amounts of money, like $50 "to buy some paper to wipe their ass" or something.

2) No oversight or accountability whatsoever. Plinkey never listed goons who had received assistance or how much money had actualy been spent each month, and responded in an incredibly pissy manner to anyone who questioned his methods.

So there's no real data on how the funds were distributed. However, judging by the number of posts in the goon fund thread saying "thanks Plinkey", we can extrapolate that up to 20 goons per month received assistance (and that's being charitable and assuming that for every grantee who posted in the thread, there are three who didn't).

That's maybe $1,000–1,500 per month used for the fund's designated purpose. Figuring out where the rest of the money was going is an exercise left to the reader.

A while ago it exploded in drama, because goons somehow, against all odds, finally realized this was shady as hell. Though due to the intentionally opaque nature of the whole thing, there was no hard proof he was skimming or how much. Over a month ago Plinkey promised he would post some spreadsheet showing his expenditures, but never did. Today, Jeffster had finally had enough.

Obviously, this is just retard-on-retard violence, so no real harm has been done. Just stupid goons once again giving money to a grifter. Socialism! (btw, there is already a new C-Spam goon fund in the making, but this time it will have some kind of politburo committee supposedly keeping everything in check; good luck with that)

Jeffrey standing for openness and accountability is pretty amusing, considering he was fully cooperative with Lowtax when Lowtax was in full Flagrant Theft mode, and moved so fast when Lowtax beat his wife that he'd obviously been waiting for his moment to hijack the grift train. Also considering he said he was going to have a monthly State Of The Forums post where he showed what SA was taking in and what it was being spent on, then he just...didn't, ever. Search remains unfixed, the coding remains untouched by any actual professional, Jeffrey and his chums will nuke your account and steal your ten dollars if they're on the rag...but Plinkey should be open and accountable.

Jeffrey actually did post a State of the Forums announcement... once or maybe twice.

There's a (presumably paid) coder, astral, working on the forums. I think his greatest visible accomplishment to date is implementing a dark mode (or maybe Jeffrey did that himself). Other than that he's just doing bug fixes and allegedly some work behind the scenes to keep the shitheap running.

reg a bunch of accounts @10bux <somehow give them a post history> and use these accounts to do one's own "thanks plinkeys" and each 10bux investment turns into a visisble $40-50 whiping-ass money given away that actually wasn't.

But maybe I'm bad at grifting for 1 because I don't know how to easily give the sockpuppets a post history and 2 I have the belief that paying 10bux to reg a bunch would help when obviously this guy's doing just fine scamming goons without those sockpuppets.

Jeffery is better than lowtax he came out swinging on the goon fund. I also think the right move is to not allow promotion or fundraising on the site. execption being if they want to buy a banner ad.

Also I was catching up on the elon thread some retarded goon caught a prob for mentioning hunters laptop, while the thread virtue signaled how it was all a russian op and now that elon is bring the receipts that twitter was working with the biden campaign its "well the laptops real and twitter supressed it but so what!"

its weird to see goons narative change in real time.
