Looking at lowtaxs live stream from last week really makes me sad. He doesn't seem to have the patience to even sit more than hour if money doesn't come in immediately. Worse yet he thinks that a community will naturally form around him when he doesn't live stream frequently and doesn't post new videos anymore to his channel. Wtf.

Also, what does his patron money go to now if he doesn't do the podcast and doesn't make videos.

There isn't a single person left on Richard's website that he could consider a friend in even a loose sense like "I recognize you and you recognize me and we can talk to each other as people."

So how many multi million dollar ideas has Lowtax let slip through his fingers? Off the top of my head.

1- Lets plays
2- creepypastas
3- Minecraft
4- 4chan

It's almost astonishing to have so many opportunities literally fall into your lap and still end up a broke drunken loser.

Saying Lets Plays was a million dollar idea that slipped through his fingers is like a shipyard worker realizing he doesn't have mesothelioma: Sure you missed out on a huge payday, but on the other hand, you don't have to deal with being infected and plagued by cancer.

Real talk:
Think about 4chan and Minecraft, and I guess Slenderman to a lesser degree. Do you think these would be million dollar ideas if Lowtax hadn't let them slip through his fingers?
Remember in the mid-aughts when they were publishing a bunch of "books" that were curated selections of shitty blogs? And how anything web-related was selling? Lowtax could have made a few grand, and possibly have some royalties trickling in, if he'd have published a Cliff Yablonski and/or Leonard J Crabs book.

"Slenderman" is at best a thousand-dollar idea if LowT sold T-shirts and merch of this theme.

Minecraft is a zero-dollar idea until someone makes the effort to code that shit.

It wasn't even his idea. Just because Notch was a goon (he certainly looks like one btw.) doesn't really give Lowtax the rights to the game, no matter in what manner the community interacted with the Minecraft dev. I can write here that I think a game with real learning AI that can understand intent and follow spoken conversations would be neat, that doesn't make Null a billionare just because such a game would sell if it was done and I wrote it here now. It's not how it works with anything that really comes out of your community which is also why I never really understood Lowcucks salt regarding that. I'm not sure he does understand it himself to be honest.

What he could have done is work together with game developers on his forum to give them a social platform for their game, in the early times this could've been as easy as a dedicated subforum at first. Then you (with your own *PAID* staff, I cannot stress that enough, it's important to pay people. You don't want people working for free for you on such things - something LowT never got because of greed and shortsightedness) have your people work on to do features that incooperate the existing community you have with the game, marketplaces, servers.. stuff like that. He could've made an investment when Notch was still some random sperg with an idea. That could've made him lots of bank. Same with a bunch of other ideas that happened on his forum and he just completely missed out on because ambien haze and refusal to even do as much as look at his own forums. Now all that's left is probably a bunch of tranny "gamedevs" (using that term very loosely) that made some Super Mario clone where Mario is wearing a dress (while still retaining his beard) or whatever the fuck worthless Steam garbage they do. Steam is a good example actually as it's not really doing anything else besides providing a platform. Valve certainly doesn't earn it's money by developing. [insert HL3 joke here]

SA had quite a bit of influence on the earlier version of the internet, he could've used that to provide social platforms, even build an entire network of them. If he had the slightest sense to have a paid staff that actually were interested in keeping the company alive and upping their earnings through good work he really would have had something. Lowtax was more concerned with getting his $10 for no effort and having his eDick sucked by the same people who now laugh at him. That's even sadder than being "bad at business" he always claims to be and is strangely proud of.

I don't get how Lowtax could have benefited from the creation of 4chan.

A lot of weebs and anime fans back in the day wanted a western copy of Futaba channel, moot made one and he happened to be a goon.

The only thing Lowtax contributed was giving moot a place to advertise his site to a big audience of anime fans in 2003. A big part of the ADTRW community was unsatisfied with the strict rules and bans on their subforum, so a lot of them switched to 4chan.

So what did Lowtax fail to do here? Not making his own counterpart of Futaba channel for the weeb audience he didn't exactly like?

It's pretty funny how 4chan ended up going the same way as Futaba Channel - a seething cesspool of far right extremism. It shows what happens whenever a bunch of pathetic, autistic virgins gather in one place.

I think the guy that did Dr. McNinja was a goon too. At the very least Lowtax could have advertised Something Awful as a place where interesting ideas are born.

its a womens rights feminism forum that used to publish front page articles about a individual woman's miscarriages, in their own words, "crowding up heaven with her poison womb," the self awareness ship sailed a decade ago when helldump closed.

edit: why not include a link https://www.somethingawful.com/news/were-all-gonna/

the poison womb quote is one of the funniest all-time owns. i'm surprised goons haven't campaigned for the main SA site to take down its hateful past.

the hand-wringers on SA, amusingly, make me think of nothing more than the concerned parents railing against rock and roll and satanic DnD games in the '80s. moral panic as a default stating of being, absurd discourse which sounds silly to anyone looking in from the outside, concern for some group that has to be protected from even harmful thoughts at all costs... except goons are too loathsome for their silly behaviour to be about anything as personally important as their own families rather than some grand and delusional manichaean moral crusade.
