That's clearly bullshit because the last few weeks have proven goons don't need the forums at all. There's no community left to speak of, just hang out with the few people you're still able to tolerate on discord. They were fully prepared to let this shit die, but I guess the impulse to toss money at Lowtax was too strong.

Corporate execs who should know better have definitely made dumber moves.

(Though I have feeling any legal team vetting the deal would look at two decades of very unwoke posting and immediately hit the kill switch as fast and hard as humanly lawyerly possible)

'Offsite drama' used to be bannable on SA - including and especially IRC.

Now the forums are directly controlled by what happens 'offsite': other forums, Facebook and especially Discord (which is essentially IRC in new clothes).

I think the erosion of applying this rule is at the core of many of SA's problems. And it happened a long time ago.
