As an academic underachiever of low intelligence who felt self-conscious, frustrated, and generally pretty shit about myself next to the students who seemed to effortlessly 'get' everything...

...I think it's appalling that schools would ever try and bandage MY issues by taking education opportunities from other students. There are lots of things kids like me need in school, but less intelligent classmates isn't one of them. I'd be bashing at the library door with a chair going, 'GEEZIS CHRIST, STOP THIS SHIT, BEING STUPID SUCKS!!!'
Agreed. The part that irritates me about these situations is that every time I see one, the teacher or school in question has to go way out of their way to prevent the successful student from learning faster. This is time they could have spent with the struggling students. At some point, when you're ahead of the curve, you can pretty much teach yourself. That's when a good teacher will take the opportunity to focus on the kids who need the extra help. When faced with a choice between spending your time helping students who need help, or handicapping the students who don't... what sane teacher chooses the second option?

But it happens a lot.

I agree. That isn't to say that power and dominance isn't ever a factor in rape, but to simplify it to the point of "It's never about sex" reeks of tunnel-vision.

There are LOTS of rapes that are about sex. That doesn't make one type of rape less horrific than another, but it's not very useful (and rather dishonest) to try and change the motive.

Like I said before, is less changing the motive and more saying: "being a horny and frustrated is not the cause of people going in rape and murder sprees, but certianly help to deteriorate the psyque of already perturved person"

From my understanding, stranger rapes are more likely to be about power, while date rape is more likely to be about horniness.

I could be wrong, though, it's been a long time since I read up on this.

Maybe they could even have the advanced students help teach the ones that are behind (as a peer helper).

That would really help the students below the advanced students since it means they could understand how their advanced peers would tackle a problem and such.

You know what kids can do inorder to understand big books?
Read more you fucking casuals.
turn off the TV and read alot.
if you feel bad and don't feel like improving it's your own fucking fault.

And it would help the advanced students empathize and maybe even encourage them into teaching or mentoring careers.

Here's some quotes that apply really well to SJWs

If being read to as a kid is likely to make you smarter, then I'm guessing that Swift guy didn't get many stories.

Seriously, though, that is bullshit. I sent that article to my parents (onetime gracious readers of stories for baby Slowboat) for a laugh, and my dad found it very interesting that Swift identified a data point--reading to kids can make them better-developed than others--and then decided that instead of encouraging other parents to raise their kids up this way, the ones who are doing it should feel bad for causing inequality. Definitely a Harrison Bergeron vibe.

Bedtime stories have made a BIG difference in my life, too. I became addicted to books early, and being able to read quickly and soak up information saved my bacon when school was otherwise impossible for me. I once had an English teacher who saw me struggle with the day-to-day assignments while ploughing through the actual reading; since I was already documented as having a learning disability, she went to the school authorities and got permission to try something different with me. She ended up giving me a stack of novels and telling me to read them all and write an essay on each one. Fuck yes.

You know, the worst part is, they'll probably make that argument eventually.
They'll try to get the definition of rape to not include men which no doubt can offend those who were raped regardless of gender since they know how serious it is and to exclude someone because of their gender would be a spit in both their eyes and the man that was raped.

ahahahah "b-but what about the m-men!"
Lol at all the male tears *drinks from male-tears mug*

Is probably how they'd respond

Kids reading big books is unfair to the other kids who don't. Kids being good at sports is unfair to the kids who aren't. Kids dressing well is unfair to kids who don't. If I'm standing on a box next to someone who isn't, I'd rather help pull them onto the box than have them cut my legs at the knees so we're the same height.
