Science is the patriarchy... again

To be fair, women seem to get typically lighter sentences for things like murder too, especially when done to an SO (as long as they spin it as "he abused me!" they might just avoid punishment almost entirely)

Pretty sure they're still trying to make it so all crimes are defined only when someone they don't like is doing them. Things like "white people can't be murdered because murder is killing+privilege" so it might very well be the new rape.

Nothing can ever be a dick move simply because a person is being a jackass anymore. It's always patriarchy or oppression or misogyny.

Normally I'd say the guy's being an ass with his legs propped over a seat like that, but that bus is clearly far from packed. It's seriously not a problem.

Apparently, SJWs ran Joss Whedon off of Twitter over how the Black Widow was written in Age of Ultron.

He's been acting like a dipshit and defending them so he kind of deserves to get bit. "You knew I was a snake, bitch."

Dad's a sapiogender sangroromantic ponysexual demib@y.
Mom's a hexadimensional deity system trapped in a bunnykin nanogirl's body.
We can't remember their pronouns.
That's why we can't have nice things.

"Um, didn't you know that biology is, like, super transphobic??? There's no such thing as biological sex, that was just invented by white scientists like 200 years ago to oppress people."

"I love exploiting and manipulating teenage boys for shits and giggles! Boobs are so great, they can get you whatever you want!"
Two minutes later...
"I'M SICK OF BEING OBJECTIFIED!!!!"

"Please stop referring to the Royal Baby as an actual gender, xe will probably come out as transethic foxkin when xe learns how to talk!"

I can't even wrap my mind around this crazy. My favorites are the last two; apparently, choosing to start a family means that you can't have an abortion (What? Some women actually WANT children?!?!) and choosing to wait to have kids means that you were fired for being transgender and can't support a family. But, of course, the best thing about this comic is that its entire message boils down to "Women don't actually make their own choices because they're too oppressed. I disagree with their choices so obviously it means they were forced into it." FEMINISM!!!!

I'm a woman, but I don't identify as a feminist because I'm really uncomfortable with the direction the modern movement has gone in. I still fully care about women's rights and the issues women face (especially in developing/underdeveloped countries), I just don't use the feminist label. I know what the definition of "feminism" is, and that there are tons of great feminists, but I just don't feel comfortable aligning myself with a movement that's notoriously bad about calling out its crazies.

I mean, just look at the OP's post. She almost had a good point, especially when she mentioned that the term "feminist" has become polluted. But instead of calling out the people who are polluting the movement (misandrists, radical feminists, feminists who insult and belittle women who don't agree with them, etc), she places the blame on everyone else, saying that they aren't feminists because they don't understand the "true" meaning of the word. Also, I don't get why it's such a big deal; she said herself that the students still believed in equality of the sexists, they just didn't use a particular label. If you believe that all people deserve to be treated equally, then why do you need to use a particular a label?

If you believe that all people deserve to be treated equally, then why do you need to use a particular a label?

The label is important because it's a banner they can rally under. It gives them particular relevance. Equal rights gives them no particular relevance, because it's a push for equal treatment. What people in this position are seeking is the ability to use a cause as a status symbol. Point #1 in the above screencap robs them of this. If feminism isn't as needed, then we don't need feminists as much, so their relevance is reduced. Now, a normal person who cares about equality is happy about that, because it means both men and women as a whole have a better status of living. But the feminist, whose entire value is wrapped up in advocating change, is threatened, because if the change has already happened, they have no purpose.

That's why modern (radical) feminists want everything to equate to rape, and want everything to be subjugation. They need today's issues to be just as critical as the issues fought by feminists 50-100 years ago, even though they just plain aren't. I'm sorry, but a video game character with big boobs is not as "problematic" as being denied the right to vote. Having to deal with cliques in the workplace isn't misogyny-- not being hired in the first place because you're a woman is. Women still have problems in today's developed world, but not nearly the same problem they had a generation or so ago. Sensible women are thankful, but "feminists" are scared.

So bottom line, believing in equality without needing a label means the people who value that label so dearly have lost their importance.

You can basically tell a "good" feminist from a "bad" one by bringing up problems within the movement.

Chances are if their first reaction is to get offended at you for pointing out the obvious problems, they're the ones who are "like that" the, no true scotsman, if you will.

If anything I feel kinda bad for any feminist that does try to confront the crappy ones, actually advocate for things like empowerment and equality and consider men to be human beings. All they can expect from the "sisterhood" is harassment, threats and bullying.
And then the bad ones wonder why people think feminism is all but synonymous with Misandry.

"I'M SICK OF BEING OBJECTIFIED!!!!"
Guys being aroused by girls is nature. Especially with teenagers. Last I heard, males (at least most of the time) don't literally think of women as objects -- even when focusing on certain aspects of a woman.*

Interestingly, objectification was originally defined as a criticism of the notion of woman's pleasure being irrelevant in sex, IIRC. But as certain kinds of thinking developed, the definition of objectification appears to have developed with some into this mistaken notion that cis male sexuality is automatically sexist and dehumanizing.

It reminds me of the notion of the "white gaze" where some may erroneously think of the perspective of white people on other cultures and races is inherently bad.

*(Wendy McElroy, a sex-positive feminist, also argued something like this)
