I wonder if it has less to do with the nature of the two extremes but the fact that they're extreme. If most people think your views are nuts then you have to resort to tyrannical measures to make people comply with them. Whether you want to gas the kikes or liquidate the kulaks both of those require the overwhelming use of force and a system that is capable of projecting it.

It's funny how the series has done this to these people. I feel like it puts a period on the end of a long and grueling era of Harry Potter ever existing and ruining society as we know it.
 
I can't help but laugh at how twitter and tumblr are collectively shitting their pants out of sheer rage over what's essentially the most blasé, white bread, basic-ass boomer tweet regarding trans people to ever be put out.

They're acting like she's advocating for trans people to be sent to death camps or that she posted a video of her beating up a trans person instead of a tweet saying "Yo, do what you want, I don't give a shit, but don't fire a woman because she said your sex is your sex."

It's minutely offensive at the absolute worst and it's hilarious at how seemingly thousands upon thousands of people are just absolutely losing their marbles over it.

I really love how they’re suddenly doing historical revisionism, going back to the books and picking apart every “problematic” element they totally should have been aware of and going “Oh I’ve always hated this series. Oh I’ve always thought Author X was better.”
