"I don't like <popular thing>! See how unique and brilliant I am!" Well, it does set you apart from the crowd, but not in the way you think. It marks you as a sanctimonious asshole who probably has little in common with other people. They're not speechless, they're trying to avoid making eye contact and backing away slowly lest you weird up the joint.

Someone bringing their IQ up in any conversation not already about IQ can be safely ignored. Unless they are bringing it up because it's really low, in which case, you can pretty much treat them the same as if they said it was really high.

My IQ is 957, so you know the previous statement is true. I'm the only person intelligent enough to calculate such a high IQ

Years ago on SA, there was a thread about a guy who wrote awful vampire fiction and would threaten violence towards anyone who criticized him, or even was simply more successful than him. During one such feud, he bragged (yes, bragged) that his IQ was 85. He thought it only went up to 100, so obviously that meant he was smart right? Upon being told that he was below average and rather close to the sped zone, he resorted to threatening people again, because that always helps. I don't remember much about him, but that sticks out.

Well at least he had the excuse he was retarded.
 
One more thing about this genius. Arguably, the fact that all he sees in a soccer game is a bunch of guys running around chasing a spherical polyhedron ball means he's really dumb. Knowledge of the world starts with basic data, which is collated and analysed to form information, which with study and contemplation leads to wisdom, or something along those lines. This Einstein sees some geometrical shapes he recognises on the TV, but can't see beyond to the overarching purposes, patterns and strategies behind those assorted feats of athleticism. It's probably safe to say that he has no capacity to understand the strength and skill of the people he's watching either.
