People who like flavor in their food are low iq niggers

Chris Whiteman goes all big brained in his thread

I always wonder about people that hold Shakespeare as this grand writer, when his plays are stuff that's read in every high school. Not saying that Shakespeare is bad, but it's not like you're the only one that has read it smart guy.
Probably the same reason everybody talks about Star Wars and Pokemon to look nerdy. Everyone has seen it but it's just spicy enough to get nerd cred out of it.

I'll say it for you then: Shakespeare is pretty bad. :neckbeard:
Seriously though, I don't get it either. We read Shakespeare in grade 9. It's straight up like the minimum requirements to being literate.

Well... what are they gonna do, pick a new piece of literature not already analyzed to death? But then how will they know if the students got the right interpretation?

Shakespeare is fine as an example of literature in the period, but the idea that it's the end all be all of the arts is ridiculous. It was soap operas for peasants. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's silly to act like it's super important or anything.

Tbf I think Shakespeare is taught all wrong in school. At least at my school, we were just told to read 20 pages of Hamlet or whatever by next class. No explanations of all the clever wordplay, the overarching themes, or anything. All the kids knew was that they were being forced to read 20 pages of what looked like pure gibberish to them, and I think it bred a lot of contempt for the author.

They’re fucking plays, why does our society seem determined to treat them like books to start with? How often are kids in schools forced to read entire scripts for movies? I guarantee that if you watch a Shakespeare play or even a movie adaptation you’re going to get a much better understanding and more enjoyment out of it than if you just read it like a novel, like our society seems determined you’re supposed to do.

So we should teach Romeo and Juliet by showing them the DiCaprio version from the 90s?

Why do people self-censor themselves on personal accounts on social media? Like...it's okay to swear, I promise. It's baffling.

Well it is because swearing can be seen a vulgar and a tool by those who are less intelligent, which is true to a degree. The thing these fucknuggets fail to realize is that they are still using edited swear words which is still in the category of less intelligent they seem to hate. The truly smart people will give their actual reasons of why they don't like a person, their policies, and/or beliefs without having to use 10 dollar words all the time.

It is no sign of intelligence to take pages just to say what could have been easily communicated by calling someone a cunt.
