So IQ tests use the mean as a normalizing measure, and not the median? That seems dubious to me.

It's more that IQ scores are normalized around a large random sample of the White European baseline (since the test is primarily fine tuned in America). The bell curve for different races and ethnicities can be drastically different. For example the mean IQ for Africans is around 80, with the bell curve centered there and not at 100.

In essence the test assumes the median white person is representative of people worldwide, when the hypothetical median person on earth is probably not as intellectually capable. That doesn't diminish its predictive or comparative power, but it's something to keep in mind.

Someone posted “simps get a life” on reddit, and this guy got so mad about it that he decided to type this paragraph. Also obligatory “Idiocracy” reference. God, I hate that movie. I mean, I enjoyed it when it came out, but it’s become one of those things that got ruined when stupid jackasses saw it and decided to apply it to everything. You know, like 1984 and Harry Potter. Like, read a different book/watch a different movie.

Obviously a simp.

Anyway, simp is an old slang word so he's clearly retarded. It dates back more than half a century, to at least the 1940s. It's probably older.

It was short for simpleton when it first originated, but in the South it grew a connotation of being pussywhipped or women making you act stupid. We get the "modern" meaning from mid or late 20th-century black culture from that area. Notable internet sperg Ethan Ralph talked about that on a stream once. He was bemused that simp was becoming mainstream because it was ghetto slang he heard back home.

The earliest appearance I know of is 1903, and it was carny slang meaning more or less what "rube" or "mark" also meant.
