CP viewers may be human but humans have ethical responsibilities
one of which is to not harm children directly or indirectly

Once upon a time I was very empathetic towards pedophiles and their mental illnesses.

Did you guys know that people who ask for lighter punishments for crimes they are defending usually turn out to of actually done the crime?
They're trying to protect themselves by projecting their beliefs that their crime is unfairly punished. :^)
