Probably been said but you really can't beat a good diet filled to the brim with fruit and Veg. Oh and remember to eat meat and drink bone broth. Bone broth is filled with collagen.

I have horomone issues but my skin ja pretty damn clear from mot wearing makeup and eating a high antioxidant Mediterranean diet
 
Does exfoliating work to remove light acne scars? I'm not talking about deep ones, but light acne scars. I was thinking about getting an exfoliating scrub to deal with some of the few I have under my jaw, but was unsure.

I bought some glycolic acid resurfacing pads for this very reason and I was impressed with the results. If you want to reduce acne scars, sun damage, melasma (pigmentation associated with high estrogen), or even just nuke blackheads on your nose, I recommend picking up a container. I used them every other night prior to moisturizing and pretty much erased the sun damage on my temples, with a bonus of shrinking my pores without meaning to.

If your acne is hormonal, OTC products probably won't help much. If your acne is fungal, many OTC products will seriously exacerbate it.

I think it’s probably hormonal. Maybe I’ll go try spearmint capsules (I mean...they probably won’t make it worse, right?)

edit: oh, apparently my moisturizer has ingredients that make acne worse? gonna do a product free week this week to see what happens

I get mistaken for a teenager all the time despite nearing thirty. It can be pretty annoying. On the other hand, I guess that's a good sign I'm doing something right?

I'm oily except during the winter where I'm combo. While I'm not as sensitive as I was as a teenager, where I literally could only use Cetaphil, I still have sensitive skin. I mostly just get hormonal acne on my chin during PMS nowadays. I do have enlarged pores via genetics, which I'd love to shrink as best as possible.

Current routine:

AM
Cleanser: Burt's Bees Sensitive Face Cleanser
Toner: Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Serum: The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% serum
Serum: Neutrogena Hydroboost Serum with Hyaluronic Acid
Moisturizer: Cerave Daily Moisturizer (I'm thinking of dropping this eventually, TBH. The Neutrogena is very moisturizing to me.)
Sunscreen: currently some random "hydrating" Walgreens sunscreen I picked up for a couple bucks, but my HG is Biore Watery Essence. Wanna try the Neutrogena Hydroboost because it's supposedly very close to it

Cleanser: Garnier Micellar water (if I wore sunscreen and/or makeup)
Cleanser: Burt's Bees Sensitive Face Cleanser
Toner: Dickinson's Witch Hazel
Serum: The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% serum
Serum: Neutrogena Hydroboost Serum with Hyaluronic Acid
Moisturizer: Cerave Daily Moisturizer

If I'm really tired at night I just do cleanser, witch hazel, and the Neutrogena serum.

I occasionally use TonyMoly I'm Real aloe sheet masks. Also patch testing The Ordinary Lactic Acid as I type this. (It's currently passing the test.)

I'm very big into taking care of my hands. I make my own cuticle oil and apply it often. I also use unscented hand cream from Bath and Body Works and biweekly exfoilate with a small amount of sugar scrub. My nails are very strong and thick, so I actually have to lightly buff them every other month or so just so that they can flex. Glass files are my friends. I use acetone to remove my nail polish, but I add "Acetone Additives" (basically glycerin and some other shit) so that it's not as drying when I change my paint. I could go on and on.
 
I'd heard Niacinamide was a twice-a-week kind of item - I'm guessing not, given your good skin, but doesn't using it twice daily cause any issues? I may up my Nia and see if it does anything for my pores/oil slick.

My routine is like this at the moment. I am combi and sensitive and also an old git over 30.

Once a week - Exfoliation - Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid
Twice a week - Niacinamide + Zinc serum, Bentonite clay mask, occasional sheet mask if feeling fancy.

AM
Cleanse - CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser
Essence - Muji All in One Essence Gel
Essence - Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin
Moisturise - Nature Republic Aloe Vera 92%
Sunscreen - P20 or Etude House something or other.

PM
Cleanse - Hadalabo Gokujun Facial Oil Cleansing (if suncream or makeup)
Cleanse - CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser
Essence - Muji All in One Essence Gel
Essence - Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin
Moisturise - La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5

I also used to use Dickinson's toner but dropped it as, although fragrant, I didn't notice any difference using it vs not using it.
 
Lori Cerda uses Glow Recipe and claims Sephora workers didn't believe her age. Their products are preserved poorly and don't have a long shelf life.

you might benefit from chemical exfoliation as well to help with pores. Right now I have The Ordinary's glycolic acid toner. It's not for everyday usage though and it can sting a bit when you first start using it. Do you find the witch hazel dries your skin out a bit? I've thought of using it in the summer when I'm more oily but I'm curious about that. Also I'd recommend the Banila Co clean it zero cleanser for sensitive skin in the evenings if you haven't tried it, it's amazing at getting rid of makeup and sunscreen at the end of the day. Usually as part of a double cleanse but it's my HG first cleanser. I think I might start exfoliating my hands more often too, but I feel like my skin still has some flakies usually even after I exfoliate. Do you use hot water or towel wraps to soften your skin first? I've thought about doing that.

Sunscreen every day is definitely the main product you need. I really like Elta MD SPF 46, but there are dozens of good (and cheaper) ones on the market now. Skincareaddiction on Reddit has loads of reviews and recommendations.

You only really need a gentle cleanser (e.g., Cerave, Neutrogena, Aveeno), a moisturizer, and some sort of exfoliating product otherwise. Anything else is extra and depends on your skin issues and concerns. I highly recommend looking into a combo of tretinoin and another appropriate active (e.g., azelaic acid, niacinamide) through your doctor or Curology or check out some of The Ordinary's or Paula's Choice products.

True story- I recently went to a gas station I don't frequent to get a lottery ticket and the cashier not only asked outloud how old I was but also carded me because she thought I was underage. (I normally get carded at my grocery store because of a company policy, but usually at gas stations I only get carded when I buy booze.) To be fair, I'm also short, but a lot people say that I have a baby face.

Oh really? I read that niacinamide was good to use up to twice daily. I could easily reduce it to just PM use, though.

I find that the Dickinson's works best when I have hormonal acne. I swear that shit is like a magic wand with it. I've applied it over acne and it be gone literally overnight sometimes. It also feels nice to me. It was also the first part of my routine that I added in college that I think helped me a lot.

I haven't done it in forever, but I used to use Freeman's Dead Sea Scrub mask as a spot treatment. It helps a lot with cystic acne that hasn't risen to the surface yet. I need to try those acne spot treatment bandages again for cystic acne.

The lactic acid passed the patch test so I applied it tonight. So far so good. I'll start weekly and build it up to up three times a week if my skin doesn't start screaming at me. I definitely need an exfoliant. I've tried a CosRX one before so I'm not totally new to chemical exfoliants. Just slacked on it.

As for the witch hazel, I find that it helps reduce my oil. It doesn't turn my face into the Sahara. It's more that my face feels "normal" versus oily.

I'll have to try some witch hazel then. The CosRX one I've used was the blackhead liquid, bha. Which is best for oily skin. I'm using a few different things now but that one did make my skin look better. Just always be sure to use sunscreen in the morning cus chemical exfoliants can cause some pigmentation in sun light.
 
This week I just started double-cleansing just to see if it can actually help with my combination skin's oily areas. Though mostly due to accumulating so many products that I'm basically trying to use the older ones up to try out my newer purchases.

I haven't used toner in forever but since this one has an AHA (Azealaic? Idk how to spell) and I have a glycolic acid facial serum that's meant to go after toner, I worry about whether or not to use these two every night or every other night for fear it could dry my skin out more based on frequency. Currently my face isn't nearly as dry since I started using them with double cleansing, I mostly need them to help with my oily T zone and dark spots from acne.
