Yep, thanks to masks I have permanent jaw acne now. The Ordinary products have been great with overall issues and oil production, but that maskne isn't going away anytime soon. I wash my cloth ones and try to wear the disposable ones if I have to wear one for a long ass time, but I hate how fucking wasteful they are. And I can't even wear foundation to cover it up (even though I stopped daily wear back in January) because it gets the mask disgusting.
I've had luck with Granactive Retinoid Emulsion by the Ordinary for my previous maskne breakouts.

This time I've used Epiduo as a spot treatment now that my face is still peeling and it has done wonders.
Now I just have to wait for my face to stop bleeding in the spots where my skin is raw. I'm just glad that I can put a mask on and look presentable.

I cut regular hydrocolloid blister bandaids into strips for where the mask chafes. You can also get the thinner, more discrete patches for acne that you only notice if you're within arms reach.

I switched from Nivea Day/Night creams and cleansing my face twice daily to... one moisturizer by 40 Carrots twice a day with some sunscreen on top. I use my face cleanser only in the shower now as a scrub and just rinse my face with water otherwise. I had no idea what to expect because I just presumed nice skin was never going to happen for me but...

My skin is no longer dry, flaky, red, spotty, and haggard looking. Dark/hyperpigmented areas from acne damage are fading within a week. Whatever is in this 40 carrots shit is amazing. My skin is finally behaving. Thank you, God. I have not had relatively clean skin in years.

I'm really loving the Hada Labo premium lotion. It really changed my skin, and works even better than expensive hyaluronic acid serums like the MMHC from NIOD.
It also makes me very upset because I'm a sucker for pretty packaging and it looks really off compared to the rest of my collection. But it's still worth it.

Other than that, whatever was happening to my face calmed down. Did an acid peel for the first time in a month a couple days ago.

Any suggestions for a fellow kiwi with Eczema? I'm always searching for lotions, but nothing seems to work.
Eczema has been my worst enemy for as long as I can remember. Aside from going to a derm/your GP and getting medicated ointments to get flareups under control, there are a couple of things I've come to rely on. In particular, using antihistamines to control the compulsion to itch, and my favourite wonder ointment - Bepanthen. It's an Australian product, but I'm sure there's comparable products on the market everywhere. Marketed as a nappy rash cream, but used for tattoo healing and all sorts of crap. So soothing and moisturising.

Have you considered trying tretinoin? IIRC you can buy it online from abroad to make it a lot more affordable. I think you purge when you start using it but from what I've seen the results are pretty impressive.

I tried a Hada Labo product for the first time recently - their hyaluronic cleanser. My skin absolutely loves it. Maybe I'll have to try the lotion too - but I agree about the packaging. This is why I love The Ordinary/ALPHA H products so much with their bland, shiny minimalism.

I'm about halfway through my bottle of the extra moist hydrating milk "toner," I love it!

Have you tried First Aid Beauty's Ultra Repair Hydrating cream? It has colloidal oatmeal in it, too. I use that.
And besides lotions, if your eczema is severe enough, you might be able to get on Dupixent! It's a shot you give yourself twice a month and it's helped a lot of people. Ask your doctor about it and see if your insurance would cover it!
Is it OK to use St. Ives lotion on your face?
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pls don't

Haven't been to a dermo since they prescribed me clindamycin and made me rash all over my face.

My healthcare plan sucks complete ass right now, maybe after the new year I'll go.

@Popcorn Jellybean
Get your microbiome right. LaRoche Posay Lipikar Baum AP+ is miracle cream.

Use a steroid cream to get major flare under control, then just stick to Lipikar moisturizer to keep it away. I used to get eczema and seborrheic dermatitis flare ups a few times a year. Then I read up on probiotics in skin care, and saw a few positive anecdotes about that one. My skin has been completely clear for three years since I started using it.

The other (cheaper) solution that I found moderately helpful is Nizoral shampoo. It's an antifungal dandruff shampoo. Just apply it to skin and leave on for a few minutes. Killing fungus helps, but it will keep coming back if you don't restore your microbiome.

Me and my sister started talking about skincare acids over the dinner table and my mom doesn’t know a lot about skincare so she freaked the fuck out. See she’s imagining our faces melting off like in that one Indiana Jones movie, so we tried to explain to her that not all acids are the same and they don’t all turn you into a Katie Piper lookalike but she wasn’t buying it even though it’s literally true lmao

Started using hyaluronic acid (Neutrogena) and Vitamin C serum (Vichy) on top of an exfoliant with salicylic acid and a light moisturizer (both Neutrogena as well), and it really seems to be improving my skin. I had a fairly recent breakout on my temples that left some scars (I guess that's what happened, no idea why this time in particular left marks as opposed to 95% of other breakouts I've ever had) and this seems to be helping fade them.

Sometimes I wish I knew how to manage skincare more seriously back in the day instead of having to go on Accutane. Talk about a crazy drug.

Okay, it's dry weather and thus dry skin season and I've started with the flaky nose and particularly dry skin outbreaks. I use Differin Night Moisturizer for the nose flaking with moderate results and also I've been using Clean & Clear Dual-Action Moisturizer since it has a bit o' the salicylic acid, but does anyone have other suggestions that work for them and dry skin acne?

I have fat under my skin in my face, which makes it oily, especially on nose and forehead, and my eyes, but not as bad. I also get dead skin easily, but that is removed weekly.

I have decent skin besides sometimes getting acne on my forehead, and sometimes blackheads on my nose.

I have to be very careful as to what products i use since my outer skin layer is thin and scars easily, it is also irritated easily, among other things
Once i am done washing, my face looks glossy, even without something to moisturize
I use coconut oil for the rest of my skin, and sometimes my face

If you have skin like mine
Id say no alcohol, or at least cut it to very little
Do not overscrub
Avoid things that can make hyperpigmentation worse
There is probably some other stuff i am missing, i will add onto this later

i went to h mart yesterday to buy more hada labo and realized they have the whitening lotion so i picked that up. i i've been using the clear lotion on my face and body and love it, but i wanna see if this one helps with my hyperpigmentation.

i've recently had to winterize my routine since ya girl was getting a little crusty, i pretty much just use a thin layer of the cerave healing ointment over my moisturizer. i picked up the new (at least new to me) neutrogena hydro boost whipped balm and i really like it! it has a nice velvety texture and is a nice moisture boost. my only problem is that there's not a fragrance free version like with the other hydro boost stuff-- i'm not sensitive to fragrance, i just choose to avoid it, especially on my face. plus the hydro boost fragrance is stinky.

also, i'm a genius, so i decided it would be a fantastic idea to use my glycolic acid toner after defuzzing my face with a razor. macaulay culkin would've been proud of my home alone rendition, cause as soon as it touched my cheeks it burned like a motherfucker.

Wait til you start doing a quick chemical exfo after hair removal down south... for that I recommend Paula's Choice salicylic gel if ingrown hairs are a problem.
I've been looking for new products for ingrown hairs, nothing I've tried works. Sad!

i'd taken a break from my adapalene while i experimented with acids, but i'm going to start using it again now that i think i can manage to not make my face fall off.

i backed off on the contact time/frequency with my zapzyt wash so that's been helping me avoid ingrowns. i may just let myself become a sasquatch once it gets cold though and retire it for a while. i haven't bought anything from paula's choice yet-- i've avoided looking up their products because i know i'll want all the things, and i need to stop buying shit. please ignore my previous post where i mention buying shit.

I have sensitive skin so I have a system where I let my skin adapt to what I'm applying, especially when it comes to my acids and retinoids. Basically, I go 1 day 1 week, monday thurs 2nd week, every 2 days at the 3rd week until I start using it daily or stay at every 2 days depending on what I'm using. It's helped a lot in not completely drying up my face when it comes to acids/cleansers/exfoliators and I don't wake up looking sunburned from retinoids.

I used to get really bad ingrown hairs when I shaved my bikini area around summer, but what worked for me was simply using shaving cream and a sharp razor and scrubbing the shaven areas afterwards. I use Vaseline intensive care deep restore after I finish showering as well to make sure the skin is soft. It's a bit rich/thick in terms of moisturisers, but I absolutely swear by it and it's cheap.
