I’ve done it, it works great. You are going to smear vaseline all over your silk pillowcase though.
They're so cheap these days I could buy a sacrificial one...🤔

My biggest worry is that I am a side sleeper and will probably immediately roll over and smear half of it off.
Maybe I should get two new ear piercings lol that's one way to make me not roll over for a few months.

I don’t have advice, but I just want to commiserate because I’ve been trying my damnedest to train myself to sleep on my back and I just can’t. I always crack and fold in the wee hours of the morning when I realize I’m going to be well fucked if I don’t get some sleep.

I also HATE the silk pillowcase. I hate it!!!! I keep waking up and the cursed thing is under the bed or something because it slips and slides away into the night.

Maybe I’ll try a weighted face mask.

I've always found the idea of a male skincare routine to be for disgusting effeminate faggots, but I'm in my mid-30s now, and despite never smoking, being a light drinker, and avoiding sunlight for most of my adult life, my skin is starting to look old. I've never done anything with my face but moisturizing bar soap and a washcloth.

What's the bare minimum skin care routine to heal and protect your face? From what I've read so far, it's an AM daily gentle cleanser, AM moisturizer, AM SPF, and biweekly scrub.

Anything at night?

Anything missing from the list?

Do you abandon soap and a washcloth in the shower and just rub some of the gentle cleanser on your skin before rinsing?

What brands of each element of the routine are good for keeping costs down and not having my bathroom look like my wife's?

At night do a moisturiser and retinol. Consider microneedling to rejuvenate even more.

Why wouldn’t you want your bathroom to look like your wife’s? Chances are it’s cleaner and more tastefully decorated.
Nope, her bathroom is the most disgusting pigsty you could imagine.

Basics would be cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF. I like to use a powder cleanser from wishtrend. Depending on how much water you add, it can either exfoliating or foamy. As for washing in the shower, back when I had a facebook the women in those groups said to never wash your face with hot water. Although they were a tad extreme when it came to skincare imo and I wash mine in the shower when necessary.

Anyway I'd focus on the three things I mentioned first and once you stick to that for a while you could look into products that target specific problem areas.

I've dumped hyaluronic acid from my routine some months ago and my skin is much better now.

I feel like when applied topically it was pulling water from my skin, even if I splashed some water on first.

Cosrx advanced 96 snail mucin is my new best friend.

Can anyone give me products for super dry, sensitive skin?

I use a Korean toner (think it's called I'm from rice? It's famous) + Aqueos Cream at night and Sebamed gel in the morning (needs to be light under my make up).
Previously tried classics like vanicream moisturizer and cerave in the tub but they seemed to irritate/not do much.
I also have humidifiers going.

I probably need to slug w/ vaseline but dislike it getting in my bangs/wearing a headband all night.

ooh you have the same skin as me!

get the ordinary squalene cleanser. its oil based, but will clean your face and leave it soft and less dry.

if you can get your hands on it, the pink zero! korean face moisturiser did wonders for me.

if you have the same problem as me and have sebum buildup, i recommend salycilic acid and a retinol.

Animal-based things.
Lanolin for lips and cracks. Tallow balm for skin.

Sensitive, oily, prone to redness skin.

Looking for a sunscreen that dries matte. Currently on Biore rich watery essence and it's nice, but still leaves a sort of dewy shine I could do without.

I don't personally go for matte ones, but I've heard only good things about Beauty of Joseon's sunscreens. They have a matte sun stick that you could try.

Same. Every sunscreen I've tried has been too greasy, wont absorb, breaks me out and won't ever play nice with a y other products no matter how long I wait to layer. I'm in my mid 30s and want to use retinol. I need a sunscreen.

Also if I have indirect sunlight in my home do I still need SPF when using retinol I don't have actual sun rays coming in but I keep the blinds open to soak up that free day light.

I'm using translucent powder to get rid of the shine, but would be nice to just look normal after I'm done with morning prep.

Personally, I use SPF no matter what because you never know whether you'll be outside one moment or not or just sitting next to a window or something. Can't imagine my future self ever saying "I wish I used less sunscreen".

Do you actually reapply it every 2 hours? Because I'm sitting here thinking im going to have to basically make it a religion when I find the right one.
Fuckin slather on the SPF like a ritual prayer to sheild myself from God's sunshining grace. I wish for the sun to not notice me. My sins will be blind to God and the angels above with my SPF rituals.

Only on sunny days. If it's overcast, I might reapply once or twice.

Not having permanent wrinkles is pretty cool.

Tocobo sunstick! It's made to control oiliness, the bar has a "powdery cream" texture and I swear it does this thing where it tones down the redness and smoothens the bumpy cheeks a bit. Get the blue one, the green has a shiny finish.
