Seems like a decent routine. Only thing I'd add is a sunscreen. SPF50, use every single morning, and reapply often if you're spending a lot of time in the sun. Sunscreen is absolutely the most important part of the skincare routine, the sun is the #1 cause of skin aging and removing that damage has instant and great benefits.
Especially if he's using glycolic acid and retinol. Using a chemical peel without an SPF is :lunacy:

I've always had dark circles under my eyes - combo of genetics and iron deficiency - are there any recommendations for reducing the raccoon eyes? I've tried looking and the creams and whatnot are all over $70.

In terms of moisturizer I use e.l.f.s Holy Hydration brand, it's decently priced and gets the job done, but I'd love to hear favourites. I'm a mixed skin type and the men on my family have exceedingly dry skin (psoriasis) and as such I gotta stay smooth without getting oily. Any sunscreen recs that'd fit me?

Caffeine-containing eye creams are a worth a try like the INKEY List's, which is only $11 at Sephora. In combination with iron supplements, could help. Due to stress-induced eyelid eczema and severe Accutane-induced dryness, my favorite moisturizers are LaRoche-Posay Triple Repair Lipikar which is the only non-steroidal cream to help with my eczema, EltaMD Barrier Renewal Complex and Skinceuticals Triple Lipid Restore which is too expensive but feels great. For sunscreen, Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun or Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence.

Also, I just started testing Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask and it is fantastic. Cut my lip balm use during the day in half.

I had a hysterectomy two years ago, so menopause. I've noticed that the skin on my face and upper chest has started feeling incredibly rough. I've never had rough skin or any issues other than the occasional pimple and I'm at a loss.

I don't go outside in the sun now, but I did a lot as a kid. I have a routine that I use, but I'm not consistent with it. It doesn't contain an exfoliater, I was thinking of getting a microdermabrasion scrub from Walgreens.

Will that and being more consistent with my routine help the texture? Should I see my dermatologist?

Lastly, hair growth slowing cream. Do I need a prescription cream or are there over the counter stuff that will actually work? The hair is thick and coarse, but very pale in color so I don't think lasers will work on it. I probably can't afford laser anyway, as I doubt insurance will cover it. I use an epilator on it currently.

This is an exfoliant. You're peeling away dead skin. Shouldn't be done too often, particularly not with a retinol, once or twice a week should be plenty.

Prevents sun damage, but it's nowhere near as effective as a sunscreen would be. Use daily.

Speeds up the skin cycle, which slows visible aging, improves skin texture, and slightly reduces wrinkles. Use daily.

HLA is a component in good moisturizers. Use twice daily, you "slug" yourself in the evening with a night cream, and use a much less visible day cream in the mornings.

Thank you. Does the order of application matter, and do I need to wait for one thing to dry before applying the next? Should I apply vit c + retinol in the morning or at night?

Don't need to wait for each product to dry before applying the next one (I apply most at the same time...), and opinions differ on which order to apply in (I don't think it matters, apart from my day cream making it a nightmare to put on makeup if I apply that last rather than my sunscreen, but that might not be an issue for you). You should do retinol and vitamin C in the evening, they're both sunlight sensitive.

What are your thoughts on birds nest? My grandma eats it a lot and she swears by it. I tried a birds nest ampule mask last time I was in China to visit family and while it worked well my face was really really sticky.

As for my routine I use etude house soonjung cleanser, ma nyo cleaning oil, torrien hylauronic acid pads, and black snail mucus emulsion.

My skin is easily pissed off and this is one of the few things that doesn’t make it break out and tingle with many bumps.

I've tried a lot of different products but Clarins Hydra Essential with double hyaluronic acid has worked the best for me. I have to keep a really basic skincare routine because of how sensitive my skin is. I've used a couple different cleansers but the hydrating cleanser from CeraVe is really nice. My skincare is usually just cleanser, maybe toner and moisturiser. Toner is a maybe because it varies how my skin will react to it.

I'm going to the states in August and would love to hear any recommendations for good products since my country's really expensive and doesn't have a big range of products. Another thing is that I was one of those girls who used to aggressively scrub my face with scrubs (like St Ives' apricot scrub) and it probably explains why my skin is so sensitive now, if anyone has any advice on how to repair the skin barrier I'd be really happy to hear them. Also any tips for sensitive skin would be great.

Does anyone here have any experience with glycolic acid? It gets recommended a lot as an OTC treatment for hyper pigmentation/scarring which I've struggled with for a while, but I haven't had much trust in non-dermo products for managing it

anybody got a homebrew cook for Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2?
started using witch hazel for some stuff and it reminded me of that being good

I'm sure there's a recipe but I'm not able to easily find it online

I was able to get a new prescription, thanks e-doctors who don't require evidence of vitiligo, so I've finally got plenty of hydroquinone again. ☺️ Tretinoin+Hydroquinone=Perfect pale skin. I can't recommend this combination highly enough.

Is there any skin care that helps keep pores clean?
Absolutely under no circumstances can I use any product with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. That shit rips up my skin in a matter of days.

you might have more luck with korean skincare, they have laws surrounding the % of salicylic acid allowed in products, and so often they substitute out salicylic acid for betaine salicylate, which is milder but also effective, especially if you're just starting out. COSRX does a non-irritating AHA BHA Toner which i really like. i also suggest Byoma's Brightening Toner although something in this does make my skin sting like a BITCH after double-cleansing - i think it's the birch extract. either way i love how it leaves my skin - i tend to have more luck with PHA acids rather than AHA or BHA.

double-cleansing (oil/balm, then waterbased/foam) is also really effective when cleaning out pores and i used to do it twice a day but it did really mess with my skin's natural oil balance. i do a double cleanse at night every few days now when needs must and it never fails to pull out all of the shit in my pores

I am almost out of my Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream. It is $80, and it is WORTH IT. I’m also almost out of my Ordinary Lash serum and Grande Brow serum.

I want to maybe try the Grande Lash, but I am afraid of the irritation that people report and i don’t know if i want to have to keep up with it to see results. I don’t particularly see a difference with the brow serum, but maybe it’s because I’m not using it twice a day. My brows are fine, I just wanted to try it since it was half off during the Ulta semi annual beauty sale.

Edit: tip for everyone, if you make a sephora account, you get free shipping and two free samples! don’t forget to take advantage of the deals (spend x, get _) on top of your two free samples!!!!!

This might be a retarded question so my apologies. I have a skincare routine which works well for me (cleanser/toner and day or night cream). I now work night shifts. Should I apply my day cream in the evening when I'm getting up before work and my night cream in the morning before I go to bed?

Dumb I know 😂

Night cream tends to be thicker and can make you look kinda greasy, so I'd personally do night cream when going to bed regardless of time of day.

After I started uni, I've been breaking out for the past two years and have noticed that my forehead is always bumpy but there are not many visible whiteheads. I was lucky enough to never have pimples when I was in high school and wonder if anybody here has gone through a similar thing and if so, how did you treat it?

One of my younger sisters is also now starting to go through the same thing and it's really weird.
