Anyone here use one of those Indian tret you can get online? I just got some from alldaychemist but the ingredients aren’t listed. I tried emailing the manufacturer but no response. Manufacturing QC isn’t as good in India as the west but still, plenty of drugs are manufactured there for international use, so I’m torn between just going for it, or going to the derm here (same cost, just more effort when I already have this tube).

I'm familiar with using retinoids but I hadn't heard of tretinoin before. I guess as long as you use it correctly it should be fine, provided you pay close attention to how your skin responds. I wouldn't use any stronger than a 0.5% concentration though, as suggested here.

I appreciate your suggestion. I’m still wary of not knowing ingredients since I have a couple of ingredient sensitivities (and part of me has a fear of India putting random shit in there from manufacturing impurities), but if my main concern is irritation, it will show up. Side note: Tretinoin is a higher strength retinoid, and is the most well-studied. Maybe worth checking out if you’ve been on a retinoid for a while! I recommend the micro (slow release) version to reduce irritation.

I got my first tret shipment from alldaychemist a little while ago and all is well!
On quality control: a relative of mine worked quality control for a big pharma company her entire career. For what it's worth, she's familiar with international processes. I was skeptical too, so I asked her. She said quality control isn't the issue with India and their drugs will be be up to standard. Apparently pharmaceutical manufacturing is one thing they do quite well in. If you have any specific questions I might be able to get you an answer.
Also worth adding: my skin is pretty sensitive as well. With the 0.5% "Tretin" cream (never tried any gel) from ADC I have no unusual irritation. I get a bit of redness after applying, but that's normal for me and it goes away after half an hour or so. I get some peeling too, but I also just switched up from .025% so it's not unexpected at all

Thank you for sharing!

I've been using their tret for years, it definitely works!

I have these weird little bumps on my forehead that go all the way up to the hairline. They’re invisible most of the time, but become red when exposed to heat, especially when I get out of the shower. They stay red for ~30-60 mins after. Any idea what this could be/what I can do? I saw a derm and got some epiduo forte, but my skin is way too sensitive for it. I’m going to ask for a milder retinol and see if that helps, but this shit is extremely annoying.

I use a benzoyl peroxide 10% face wash 2x/day and a moisturizer at night. I got some chemical peel as well but haven’t used it yet. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

My most recent obsessions are the Byroe English Breakfast Tea Essence, FarmStay Black Snail and Peptide 9 cream and toner, Naturie Skin Conditioner and skin milk, Tia'M Snail Essence, Clarity Rx antioxidant serum, Manyo bifida ampoule, Charmzone Red hydrating cream plus like 5 others. Keep in mind I don't use these all in the same routine but the products that NEED to be on my skincare desk is Charmzone Red, my Aloe Vera gel mist (doesn't matter what brand), Artemisia essence from Missha, Aloe Toner and Emulsion from The Saem, SOS Serum from SNP prep, and my Skinfood Apricot food mask.

Yeah I'm a skincare addict with sheet masks galore this is my therapy

Fungal acne?

Fungal acne?
I think you might be right. Doesn’t look as pronounced as the pics I’m seeing on Google images, but otherwise the description sounds about right. Gonna get some ketoconazole and see if it clears up. If it works that would be crazy bc that means you identified the issue based on a forum post when an actual derm couldn’t lmao

I am interested in starting a skincare routine, but it's all so overwhelming...
Face wash, moisturiser, sunscreen. That's all you need to start, and they don't need to be particularly expensive (if I was going to throw money at one of those steps it'd be the sunscreen, you won't wear it if it stings your eyes and makes you feel greasy). Don't worry about anything else until those three steps are as much of a habit as brushing your teeth. When you're already in the swing of things, then you can start thinking about adding actives, one at a time, to target specific issues.

I was chatting with some friends and the subject of DIY botox came up. My skepticism was not well received. Am I just out of touch here, is that actually a common thing now? Getting it done at the clinic isn't expensive, and it's quick, and it doesn't hurt, and it is a neurotoxin and you'll look ridiculous for weeks if you botch it...

I knew it was a thing, of course, but I always thought it was just something kinda trashy people did. Like, a couple of wine moms getting together one evening to do each others foreheads, or some nurse doing back alley lipflips for some extra cash, but respectable early thirties women doing themselves to save themselves the embarrassment of being seen at a clinic?

Is facewash a product or just what you do in the shower? Also is sunscreen even nessesary if ones lives outside traditional vacation countries?(Russia, Bongland, Nederlands, etc)

Facewash is sometimes called makeup remover. It'll clean all your products off and also exfoliates and smooths. You can get it as either a kind of soap you'd use in the shower, or as wet wipes. The soap version is better, but you should keep some wipes in your purse in case you need them.
You should be using sunscreen every where, every time. I'm Russian and don't go without it even when I'm just sitting inside the darkest winter night, it's how I maintain my flawless, beautiful pallor.

It's what you use to wash your face. A lot of people have skin on their faces that's more sensitive or has different issues to the skin on their body so they use a different product that suits them better (eg. regular soap might make their face uncomfortably dry but be okay for their body), so whatever works best for you.

You should wear sunscreen every day no matter where you live, though to be honest sometimes I skip it in the dead of winter when I'm not going to be outside during the daylight hours.

What if you wear no products? Just a gentle soap?
You don't even moisturise or wear sunscreen? Those are products too.

I'm not sure. If I put soap on my face the skin barrier just falls right off and I wither like a mummy, before breaking out like a teen boy for a week. But I checked up on it, and it looks like facewash is usually neutral or slightly low ph, while soap is high ph. So they're not the same. But the face is just skin, so I also don't see why gentle soap wouldn't work even if standard body wash is too harsh for the sensitive skin like face.

I'm really not an expert. I know what works for me, and that's about it. I'd be very cautious about putting soap on my face, but if it works for you I don't see why it would be a problem. Probably avoid anything foamy though, those are the ones that dry you out the most and I don't think any face could handle that.

I'm asking more of a general question than my own specific case.
e.g.
  • Men who don't wear any makeup or moisturizer still have different skin than women do, even if women do the same thing
  • Some people don't shower every day, so they may not wash their face every day (maybe a splash of water)
  • Nopoo/Nosoap people
I only use hippy-dippy soap and it's worked well for me personally. I used to use only like, Dove, but I went more hippy over the years and that's worked even better than the store-bought stuff.
