Sometimes I think they might have actually improved art-wise but then the next thing they post is their feeding fetish/vomiting fetish/mpreg/big bellied +bad anatomy. I didn't care much to look through their blog of general whining but they seem to be about as big of a sperg as any other bad artist on Tumblr who also takes donations as well as commissions.

The truth is more like this: Tumblr is composed of a bunch of obese, ugly man/womanchildren who don't like the fact they are not attractive, and while some of them could possibly help change that (while some are unfortunately screwed thanks to genetics), they figure it's easier to convince humanity butt ugly is beautiful because it means they don't have to accept reality or exert actual effort to help themselves as opposed to seeing fictional standards they can't meet that hurts their feels.

There's been minor quibbles over this in the Team Fortress 2 fandom in regards to Heavy Weapons Guy, but otherwise? No.

The only people who draw fat men are usually fetishists or they're professionals using them in character design.

Did these people miss the memo where superheroes are usually idealized fantasies? They're supposed to be larger-than-life figures akin to mythological characters. Who the fuck looks at statues of Hercules or David and think, "I would appreciate these statues if their stomach were hanging out more".
If you want to talk 'realistically', superheroes are very active people. Fat rolls and beer bellies are kind of out of the question when you're flipping, running and kicking ass. Also, no average Americans exercise apparently, no sir.

Rule of thumb for these kinds of things is if you can't find what you're looking for then look elsewhere. And if you still can't find it, then go ahead and create some yourself. Bitching and moaning about the apparent "lack of bodily diversity" is just silly and pointless, especially if you've the time and energy to do something more productive. Such as, oh I don't know, creating a comic that celebrates the diversity you need/want/"deserve".

If you don't have the time nor the energy to do even that then that's on you. If you really want something you've got to work for it.

Which is what I'm hoping to do in the future. The "create your own comic" thing not the "diversity" thing because "diversity" does not automatically make for interesting characters and involving storylines.

Speaking of shitty art, I actually find that people who do personal, self pitying, existential boo-hoo me comics are the most narcissistic. Just look at people like slayboybunny, who do these little bits and pieces of self introspection through shitty little comics in their , and all they do is reblog their own mug and amazon wishlists in hopes of someone paying attention to them. It's pathetic, really.

At this point everyone who wants to be someone on Tumblr is playing follow-the-leader to the likes of Toki, Odlaws and Maddie C. (among others), and it's creating some...interesting results. These artists don't have super-terrible art, but their imitators' artworks are really all just starting to blend together.

poster: It's because it's the same template as the women get treated with; more flesh, less hair, larger... assets. Basically it's a standard defined by male expectations in imagery of women, applied to a man, with certain modifications that reflect what men value in themselves and eachother.

To some extent I feel like we're taking for granted that women must be looking for the same sort of objectification as men are and letting men define what sexy means for everyone. I realise that perception is subjective, this is just how it comes off to me.
