DESCRIPTION AS FOLLOWS:
Humanstuck Nitrams: Hearts Boxcar, Tinkerbull, Summoner, Rufioh, and Tavros
(Yes, the Midnight Crew is included in this AU as members of ‘their’ troll’s family.)
Meet the Navarro family from order of age: Herberto/Bert, Zane, Elias, Rufio, and Travis. Herberto, who prefers to go by Bert, is American, born to a Filipino family, while Zane was born and raised in the Philippines. As a young transman, Zane moved to America due to some frustration/exasperation towards his family and country regarding the way his gender was viewed and misunderstood. He moved hoping America might be a little different—which it wasn’t. In fact, it was probably worse in some ways. However, while there, he was introduced to Bert by some fellow gay and trans friends he’d made, and they quickly hit it off, to the point that they eventually married and decided to have children together.
Bert had a nice ‘income’ thanks to his work with a gang called the Midnight Crew, so he would often take off to do business, while Zane chose to stay at home to care for the kids instead. Bert’s sometimes long absences put a little bit of strain on their relationship, given that Zane had grown up with family having a much greater cultural importance than Bert had, but not enough to cause a great amount of dissent.
Unfortunately, around the time that Travis entered middle school, Zane was hit by a bus and went into a coma. With no idea of when Zane might wake up, Bert left Elias in charge of his brothers in Zane’s stead. However a few years later, Bert got himself landed in jail with his gang, thanks to an incident involving the Midnight Crew and the murder of one Gabriel Marinos. Elias was old enough by then to obtain legal guardianship of his brothers, so he did.
Gender and things:
Zane, as stated, is a transman. (I did a bunch of research on what that would have been like for him in the Philippines, and from what I understand, while dfab people have more room to explore their gender than dmab ones, transmen are still called tomboys and viewed simply as lesbians. However, the Philippines do give the appearance of being more gay-friendly. Women are also much more respected there than in America. I do not live in the Philippines tho, so take this all with a grain of salt.)
Herberto is cis, but also very interested in men.
Rufio is also cis, but is bisexual and an (unrealized) aromantic. He kind of likes the idea of a relationship, but so far the ones he’s been in haven’t been what he’s expected, and it’s made him distressed and a little uncomfortable.
Travis is panromantic, gray-asexual, and intersex. He very rarely experiences sexual attraction, but he is not sex-repulsed. He’s just not interested a vast majority of the time. If he’s in a relationship though and is in the rare, right mood, he does like to mess around a bit.
Extra Notes:
Travis’ DS is pink because 1) Travis does not give a fuck, because it’s a DS and he has Pokemon.
Rufio has heard alllll the Rufio/Hook/etc. jokes, especially since he already resembles the actor, so eventually he just decided to embrace it, hence the dyed hair. At least now he can feel like it’s more purposeful.
Travis lost the use of his legs when he was 8 due to an accident that occured with his friend, Vickie (Vriska). He told her how he and his brothers would hang on the roof sometimes (mostly his brothers), and she dared him to show her, not thinking he’d actually do it. He went up there and ended up getting startled by something before slipping, and the fall paralyzed him.
