I say it as someone who loved the original She-Ra cartoon and is willing to give the new one a chance at very least. But this is so fucking irritating and ignorant since if not for the old cartoons that OP and others bash, their precious new series wouldn't freaking exist.

IIRC the artist was a Japanese 'sexy' artist called Gashi-Gashi. If anything I thought they'd be triggered by the boobs on Amethyst or Pearl's loli-esque build.

This has been said before, but over in Asia, black/seemingly black people aren't as pitch black as the West depicts them. On top of that their styles are much 'lighter', hence skin tones not being as chocolate brown as Westerners would like. Black people aren't nearly as common in Japan as they are in America either.

If you made Garnet's skin as dark as it is in the show, the colors would appear too dark - however a simple lighting/style choice has rendered this artist with unwarranted backlash.

Gashi-Gashi is indeed the artist! Here's 2 pieces they did of a "young" Garnet and a normal Garnet a year before the one that caused a war, just for reference.

Gashi-Gashi is a pretty decent artist, they really didn't deserve all the shit that was flung at them.
