Anybody want to celebrate the end of Pride Month 2018? Not to be a drag but in all honesty, Pride Month is overall useless and oversaturated as all Hell.

I think the main reason it's a whole month is because it's difficult to try to squeeze all the pride events into one day. I think it's also kind of like black history month, where it kind of invites people who don't normally think about that stuff to learn about it. The reason pride month is in June is because June is when the Stonewall riots that kick-started the gay rights movement happened.

I don't think the concept of pride month is the problem; I think the problem is more how some really extreme groups have hijacked it and perverted it into this bizarre Tumblr circle-jerk.

too bad everyone, i still found shitty pride art. if you like persona 5, im sorry.

there's actually a little story to go with this one. i found this artist a while ago thanks to this thread, and they became something of a personal lolcow. anyway, this was the post that caught my attention. i actually posted it to this thread a litlte while ago.

now, theyve posted more pride art, but amusingly, there are some notable changes, mainly skin tone.

as you can see, they painted the characters black and then decided to undo it all for some reason. haru seriously looks like a drug addict or something to me and.. well, the girl with the uglified orange hair, futaba, does not have green or anything in her hair, or braces.

(the flag in yu's hair is the nonbinary flag, i think.) (also, please note that yukiko, the girl who wears traditional japanese clothing and works at a traditional inn, is more yellow than the others. interesting that she gets to be 'more japanese' in OP's eyes than all these japanese characters (excepting teddie, who is actually white.)))

(the flag on teddie (i know right)'s wrist is the genderfluid flag.)

possibly sperg but its funny that they give the one pretty agressive guy darker skin (as well as making him gay when he is very clearly bi) and making naoto trans, when in fact, her whole arc is about getting over sexism and expectations of women and what they 'can and can't do'. great.

edit: forgot to mention, but op is white. hilarious.

I'd be less inclined to think they were just virtue signalling if it wasn't very clear most of these were shat out in record time.
MAYBE they just suck this hard at art...:optimistic::optimistic:

It's old (2013) artwork, but I recently saw it again and it's as terrible as I remembered.

Idea is interesting - "magical girls" based on literature genres.
But they are bored college students. And muh diversity.

Also, extremely hairy Muslim is dating trans lesbian. There are also adult images of this two:

Traumatized me in 2013, traumatized me now.

Wow, making OC based on books genre, isn't the most laziest things ever ? They just... Look likes their name ? I mean, I guess. Black girl as history, muslim as fantasy, chubby fujoshi as romance, horror as a dyke and pocahontas as adventure, she was really inspired in her representation, I don't know I just find that funny lol.
And how can you reduce sci-fi to "Aliens ayy lmao" ? Does this person really know what sci-fi is ?

You know that 2013 pictures remind me that times when muslims lesbians was kinda hype (don't know if it's still a thing), everytime a SJW draw a muslim girl, she was ALWAYS lesbian or bisexual... Pick one.

I'm going to be the fair one here and say that I actually do like this concept art. Every character looks different, they all look diverse but not annoyingly so and I feel that having magical girls based off literature is such a cool concept.

The problem is when they finalized the art work. I'm going to state here that just because a Muslim woman is in a hijab doesn't mean "much diversity". There were plenty of people I knew irl who CHOOSE to wear one. I don't think it's bad depicting that.

Again my only issue is that I feel the art needs to be cleaned up such as the hair on the body and some of the shapes could be rounded out more.

I really do like the idea and I don't see making a diverse team for the sake of it a bad thing, but if she's just doing it for a checklist and not to write some interesting folks....that's sad.

how in the holy fuck can a cat be trans and bi tho, I'd love to hear there wild ass explanation on that

Ah yes, the persona fandom. I feel kinda bad for other fans because you see this shit CONSTANTLY on Tumblr. Whenever I check the tag I always find some sort of hideous amalgamation of artwork. These artworks include headcanons that don't make sense and uglified skin with awful undertones.

What these people don't seem to understand is that the LGBT is treated differently in Japan than here. To assume that it's the same type of treatment as in the US is super racist and frankly deplorable. I understand wanting to find gay characters to support that you like, but the reality is that a series is not required to give you a gay character. Yes, I know Persona 2 had Jun, but Persona also is the series that had cameos predatory gay men depicting them as creepy perverts. Do you really want your "representation" to be a from a series that isn't going to be consistent with it anyway?

I really don't understand why these people are making a mountain out of a molehill. It has to come to a point when these people realize that these companies could give an iota of a shit and that if you want your own characters you got to make your own.

What is it with SJW artists and their inability to make freckles look good?

What is it with SJW artists and their inability to make freckles look good?
I think it might be another aspect of the "never drew anything traditionally"/"never drew everything without using shortcuts" rookie mistakes that are rampant in a lot of Tumblr art. They seem to either default to an airbrush or spatter brush that makes it look like a cat took a liquid dump on their face or don't use a small enough brush and draw them as massive circles in random spots, which tells me that they never developed the motor control to do the fine details that are essential to make freckles look good.

Persona has a record of making fun of trannies. There's a joke somewhere in one of the Persona 2 games at the expense of a trans woman, though it's only a small thing a NPC says in one of the stores. "Operation Babe Hunt" of Persona 3 involves the protagonists and his friends trying to hit on a trans woman and getting disgusted once they notice stubble on her face. In Persona 4, Naoto's gender is still a point of contention, even though the game spells it out for you that she's a girl.

Funnily enough, when the first Persona game was localized, ATLUS ended up switching races 20 years before it was cool. Most notably, making one of the party members into a black guy. Another character was changed to have blue eyes and blonde hair.

FE fandom strikes again with Fat Sumia.
I don't know, going by the rest of their art, it doesn't seem like this is intentionally meant to look fat so much as poorly proportioned. The legs are way too short for the size of her top half, her waist isn't well defined, and the arms seem to be an attempt to include musculature but are too thick compared to the rest of her body, but it doesn't really scream SJW to me so much as a young artist considering they've appeared to have made her tits bigger than the canon design, and their previous FE art and other recent fan-art seems to try and stick fairly close to the canon designs as well. The only other thing that sticks out to me is the spray-tan skin tone, though frankly this isn't the worse case I've seen (especially compared to the second picture) and doesn't seem to be very common in their FE artwork.
