Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

...Some kind of magical girl human version of a ninja turtle?

Is it

Nope! Thankfully, both of you are wrong. Give up?
But seriously, of all themes you can explore, why it has to be witch/fat/punk/mermaid/hairy/feminist ?
Tumblr has no imagination and a very small reference pool, so whenever these people need "edgy" and "girly" imagery for SJW art their brains always go for the most boring.

I was looking for art involving Kazuma Kaneko (artist who worked on early Atlus titles), and I came upon this picture.

It's Persona 2 fan art of the original cast but with more shades of brown and fatty tissue.

At first I thought this wasn't too bad thinking it was a lineup of OCs... Then I saw the description.

I always think when I see this kind of thing, at this point why not just make your own cast of characters? The style isn't bad IMO aside from some sameface, it's just so... far removed from the source material it's unrecognizable.

This chick only draws her own OCs instead of fanart, but her style so perfectly encapsulates everything Tumblr I had to share.

"I dare you to admit you find this unattractive."

I'd like to point out that the fat girl in front wearing the orange t-shirt is Lisa Silverman, whose character arc is explicitly about being white in Japan. The tl;dr of her character is that her parents are weeaboos who moved to Japan and wanted to make their daughter into the perfect Japanese schoolgirl. Because Lisa is obviously white (literally blonde hair/blue eyes), people think she's a foreigner who speaks English, even though she doesn't speak a lick of English. She rejects all aspects of being a traditional good Japanese girl by learning Cantonese and whoring herself out in high school.

Her being white is crucial to her character. (And the larger story of Innocent Sin as well.)

Also, I have no clue who the black chick is behind Tamaki.

Why is Eikichi the only pale one? He sticks out like a sore thumb.
Probably because the artist wants to assume that he's gay because he stands out more than the other male characters because of the amount of makeup so by default she doesn't have to change an inch of him.

I'm pretty sure it's mentioned Eikichi wears some foundation to make his face lighter

Americans not understanding race relations in Japan will never not be hilarious. I think the fact that the Japanese were colonizers and has never been colonized by Europeans really messes with what they believe about race. Hence how Japanese characters aren't true POCs to them.

And what's even more interesting, someone posted this picture in the official SMT subreddit, just take a look at the responses.

Proof that nobody outside of Tumblr actually likes this kind of art. I'd argue most people on Tumblr don't actually like it either. They just pretend to because they'll be mercilessly cyberbullied if they don't.

It's just this weird, incestuous circle of artists that copy each other and churn out endless shit.

I said before if they genuinely loved ugly things they'd latch on to Slavic games or indie ones, those tend to have intentionally ugly character design.

:autism: I'm replying to this again because I forgot to mention that Eikichi is not gay, he wears makeup because he's a wannabe musician vaguely going for Visual Kei. At the end of Innocent Sin, he gets together with Kozy (the black-haired girl between Eikichi and the blue-haired girl, Chikalin)

What is interesting is that the character directly to Eikichi's right with the emo bangs, Jun Kurosu, is gay. Jun gets into catfights with the other romantic options for the protagonist and can say that he's who you love near the end of the game. This also involves directly rejecting Lisa, who has a big crush on Tatsuya. Both Lisa and Jun are bitchy and compete for Tatsuya's love, but in fandom Lisa is often portrayed as an annoying slut trying to get in the way of yaoi.
