I don't know if that was meant to be a Devilman oc. The stocky body and clothes, and other drawings of Darkstalkers characters lead me to think that it's either a Darkstalkers oc, Devilman oc, or just some oc that takes heavy influence from both. It really doesn't look that original though, being pretty much Amon in a suit with UwU nonbinary gender.

I could see more Darkstalkers influence more than Devilman. I Agree, especially since anything bat theme is done to death. I do want see some deep underwater creatures as demon or hybrid creatures with animals isn't overuse. People can learn something interesting about animal like there a birds that drink blood. Research is work but also fun part as well

Maybe it's a form of rebelling against their parents/society. A lot of them are teenagers (mentally and sometimes physically) and in the past they probably would have been Goth or Punk or Hipster. But this isn't anything new or edgy anymore so they instead try to be as unique and anti-mainstream as possible and get themselves dangerhair and ugly glasses or draw everyone as a hairy, sweaty landwhale because FUCK BEAUTY STANDARDS. Probably doesn't help that most tumblrites ARE landwhales irl.

And of course they all look the same and talk the same but that's how it is with subcultures.

I cannot fathom tumblrinas that choose to draw a fanart out of a fandom that have little to no political correctness like Devilman(although I believe they follow Devilman just because of the gay undertones from Ryo and his hermaphrodite Satan form) or Poptepipic and tried to use it as their mouthpiece,it's like muslim claiming Hindu temple as islamic heritage
