I like to imagine Toby Fox used They/Them for Frisk and Kris just so he wouldn't have to add 2 or more sets of pronouns to the dialogue but the queers in his fanbase pressured him into making those character NB.

I seen rants about how Kris being Nonbinary is integral for the plot.
The reasonings all boil down to "its representation" but never what that actually adds to the story aside from brownie points.

He didn't want to use a simple-to-code feature of Game Maker because a non-binary MC would provide additional astroturfing by the fanbase. It's moreso him seeing profit where it is, than gay pressuring. It has no meaning and doesn't have to - it's a PR strategy within the game; He has to do it at this point, after the wonders it did for Undertale's following.

Perhaps sometimes he wishes he could distance himself from the fanbase completely and do something else, be less gay and do something requiring more talent. But then he opens his eyes and sees Hussie's basement's walls around him again.

Do you like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3? Yeah? Great! Do you like the Jotaro x Kakyoin ship? Of course you do! But...it's kind of icky that they're both masculine. If this is going to work, we should forcibly feminize one of them until it's pretty much a straight relationship.


This post isn't a history on Brujo Ari's Jotaro x Kakyoin art, but it is a highlight of some older art before they became original characters. In this, Kakyoin (like her current iteration, Kate) is genderqueer with he/she pronouns, but is pretty much only referred to as she. There's some good rep in that she isn't trying to be remotely masculine, and is basically not like the other girls. I'll share Kakyoin's canon design so we can see how much that gay shit was improved. Now, it's queer.

If you really think about it, Splatoon takes place several hundred to thousand years after humanity went extinct. Why and how would Inklings and Octolings know what transgenderism is?

Honestly, I overall don't care if people ship characters with whoever, what doesn't make sense is how many people jump on the band wagon because....its a gay ship. Like I've seen ships that make 0 sense with the characters never interacting before, but because its a same sex ship, somehow it gets so many likes on it. Like I don't even think many people who like the art even like the ship. They just see "gay ship" and that's enough to like it.
