I can't even go into the first one, it's just wrong in every single aspect. And maybe it's because I've never cut myself so I just don't know how people do it but why the hell are those cuts so far up on the second one?

Tbf, Pluto has dark skin in the manga... Why she's only a shade or two darker than the rest of the cast in official coloured art idk. (Doesn't necessarily mean she's black though)

^The Mermaid AU is extremely popular among the OW SJW circles and I still have no inkling (ha) as to why.

My favorite would probably have to be this one since the artist was too lazy to even draw a hand.

I'm being here when I'm saying this, but in this case I think it's less making an established character uglier and instead using a common coloring technique in general (SJW or not) Tumblr art involving manually tinting a certain layer as an interesting view on color theory. The drawing in question was most likely painted in front of a purple background, hence the yellowish theme. In the hands of a skilled artist it can be visually appealing, but since the site is primarily populated by bad-mediocre ones the times where it's pulled off well are few and far between. But you're right, it does look very off. /artsperg

Slight :powerlevel:: The last time I was actively participating in the fandom on Tumblr was in late 2013 and the closest thing I've seen to "SJW" content back then was yaoi shipping BS.
Maybe it's a good thing that I'm not all up to date with this.

I didn't make the art.

Funny tho, Pluto is a darker Asian anyways, but it seems that (generally) Westerners tend to think of all anime characters as white. -- So, Tumblr is basically taking Asian characters and making them black.
