it always bugs me when they draw characters dark skinned when they really, really aren't. and they always use this exact same shade of off-brown. Deku from My Hero Academia is a huge victim of this. there's no reason for him to be tan at all and they just do it for whatever reason. while getting these i also stumbled across tons of 'uwu he's autistic' headcanons. ugh.

these are all from a zine concerning this ship. i couldnt find the individual art but most of these fit here quite well.

different character but still tumblr-y.
Because representation and such. They think Hollywood will just whitewash everything despite the fact Hollywood would choose actors not because of racism but rather because some of them have a certain star power attached to them. It's also funny because essentially in the end, Tumblrinas are just erasing the "Asian identity" or whatever of an Asian character. So why is it that when Hollywood turns asian characters white it's wrong but tumblrinas turn them black and it's all ok?
The artist had to do a racebend that also shows how the artist does faces. Needless to say, it's a face you'd see in someones nightmare. What's wrong with the redhead's face in the first spoiler?
One would have to laugh at the fact they just used a stereotype of African American's. If they were to apply that to every character whose father ditched them, that means you'd be counting non-black characters."He ditched his child so he's probably black."
How can they fuck up so consistently?![]()
half black
Well, it does make sense!dad is mysteriously absent
oh lord, some of these honestly look like WIP monster factory creations. especially that ginger one.More racebending of Japanese characters which is a-ok cause they're basically white anyway.

More like 2 or 3 (some uglier than others). But I get where you're coming from. The tumblr art styles look so fucking similar it's like one person did most of the pictures here.
In my opinion a lot of the SJW art seems be the artist self projecting. Like I'm all for artistic freedom, but at least make it look somewhat appealing to the eyes.
Experimentation is good, dare I say important for artistic growth. Problem is these artists let their insecurities take over their art. But claim the 400 lbs overweight tracer they drew is some sort of statement. Probably why so many trans* headcanons exist. Admittedly I could be wrong, but that's just how I see it.Totally. These people throw bitchfits when fictional characters look unrealistic.
I'm all for diversity in art, i think its great young artists are willing to experiment with different face structures etc, but redesigning existing characters doesnt do anything.
They should be making their own ~diverse~ media-- but, oh wait, too much work
I agree with the sentiment, but the majority of these artists aren't experimenting, they're just copying the style that's popular on tumblr at the moment. The fact that they just slap that style on pre-existing characters makes them even lazier. They're about as creative as people drawing side-mouthed, bug-eyed anime characters on deviantArt were 10 years ago, with an extra dose of spite.I'm all for diversity in art, i think its great young artists are willing to experiment with different face structures etc, but redesigning existing characters doesnt do anything.

Both may as well be terrible since they just take something unrelated and give a weeb, brony, or SJW look. Only difference is what actually seems to be in along with what attributes these drawings have, be it some character made overweight with a tumblr nose or given some failed attempt at anime eyes.Which is worse, SJW art or weaboo animu fanart? I remember back in the day everything was anime'd as how everything now is either ponified or SJW'd.
I'd take weaboo since at least they had some respect for the original design.Which is worse, SJW art or weaboo animu fanart? I remember back in the day everything was anime'd as how everything now is either ponified or SJW'd.
