Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

  • Suicide Girl model and America's Next Top Model contestant have it, spread on Tumblr, that's why.

I would be very interested to see how they would react if someone racebends a canonically black character into a japanese one :)
There was, in fact, a Japanese artist who decided to portray Garnet from Steven Universe (who is not technically black, being non-human, but is commonly seen as such) as a Japanese woman. It resulted in a site-wide shitstorm of people rallying against making dark-skinned characters "white" (since other light-skinned races don't exist), and eventually spawned the ridiculously pro-censorship environment that enabled the Zamii drama, where another artist attempted suicide over harassment caused by repeatedly interpreting characters the "wrong" way.

Don't fuck with Tumblr's dark skin fetish representation.

This one is my favourite because I don't know what the heck is going on. Why is Rick Sanchez holding Nico Yazawa and Ichimatsu in his arms? Why is Rick looking at Ichimatsu and drooling? Why are they all floating in what appears to be a void of shit? I bet not even the artist knows quite what's going on in this picture

I sure hope that the Steven Universe fandom realizes or knows those two instances (as well as PurpleKeckleon/Glitchedpuppet and her boytoy running one of the show writers off of Tumblr) will be part of its legacy.

And to add to this, there was an artist named Sodam-art on Tumblr, who's from Korea and primarily did Marvel Cinematic Universe stuff for a while. People would constantly rip into her about making Falcon's skin "too light", or ignoring certain characters (like Falcon or any one of the females) altogether. They tore her down pretty hard, completely ignoring the fact they were imposing their American values/mores on her, much in the same way they did to Gashi (who did the aforementioned SU picture with Garnet). She's since moved on from fandom-related art to her own original comics & characters, and has made it politely clear she's not really going back to the fandom wells any time soon (save for doing a few One-Punch Man drawings at random, but she has not touched Marvel in a long, long time). Can't say I blame her for doing that, honestly.

I also noticed that they like non-Caucasian Hispanics and Arabs as well (preferably Muslims)

They do, and that tends to get hairier since they often try to add some "cultural appreciation" beyond turning up the melanin. A Muslim friend of mine once complained that, though she usually appreciates representation, so many artists just shove a hijab on a girl and call it a day without even bothering to learn about Sharia law or anything about the culture.

I wish they would learn some more about Sharia because they might reconsider their fashionable adherence to promoting Islamism.

They'd probably like it even more if they knew anything about it.

Women required to be covered head to toe at all times to avert the male gaze?

All dissent is treason? With flogging, mutilation, and death for those who don't toe the line?

Hell, I've seen a few of them talking about ISIS as some sort of utopia. Since they think anything western is bad, therefore the avowed enemy of the west must be perfect in every way. It's not so different from there love of Anarchism or Communism.

They do despise cops just as much the Anarchists.

How much do you wanna bet these same people reblogged a bunch of 'support for Paris' stuff without any semblance of irony?

I'm 99% sure that an offensive, wacky show like Rick and Morty isn't meant to be taken to this level of serious autism on, of all places, tumblr.
Pretty late but Rick technically has been confirmed pansexual, so that part they actually got right.

Also, here's Dragon Age 2 fanart. It's supposed to be Isabela and Merrill, who look like this:

But now they're this:

The worst part - Isabela is already very dark in canon. But nah, she can't just be a PoC, she's gotta be fat! And the palest character in the game's gotta be brown.
The art style is so nice too, if they'd just fixed the obvious pandering it'd be fine.

Plus wasn't Merrill the closest the game got to what Tumblrites/SJWs refer to as demi-romantic/demi-sexual or even Ace? Surprised they didn't stick with that..

Back when I still browsed the Dragon Age tag on tumblr (about 2011, I think?), there was a big kerfuffle about a mod that edited Isabela's appearance... and which happened to lighten her skintone under certain lighting. It became known as the 'White Isabela mod,' and it was a big deal for awhile, leading to the mod's creator being doxxed and anyone using said creator's mods to be ostracized. That was when I realized that the DA fandom (and even some of the staff) were simply toxic.

Oh jeez, I think I caught wind of that a while back... shit was nuts.

But then again, BioWare fandoms in general all have varying levels of toxic insanity (even The Old Republic, which sort of is balanced out by having your prototypical Star Wars fanboys locking horns with the post-DA2 BioWare fanbase), probably because BW itself is made up of SJWs, but Dragon Age brings out the absolute worst in a good number of people that go near it. I shit you not, it made people who I thought were sane, well-reasoned folks into frothing-at-the-mouth hair-trigger SJWs. There's a reason why I considered it one of the vectors of the Migratory SJW Fandom, especially in video game circles.

I did have a few hearty keks when I saw how quickly and coldly they turned on Vivienne and Sera after 'Inquisition' came out (despite the fact one's black and the other is a lesbian-only elf)... but that's for another time and thread.

Considering that one piece already is much more diverse in character models and skin colours than most animes I don't understand why they can't just accept the characters as is
Because to SJWs everything can always be "more progressive" so they'll never be satisfied with anything anyone makes

Do these people actually create anything, or do they just paint everything over with diversity-colours? I mean some of these guys seem to have so much talent, but instead of doing something with that, like creating new and interesting stories with as many diverse characters as they like, they just re-color stuff that already exists.

Now this is interesting because while this art is hideous, it's clear that they attempted to make ugly characters "cute" (like Lola for example.) by what their standard for attractive is. It's amazing how lifeless and personalityless they all are.

Also how on earth is that Baby 5? Changing their outfits make these look even less like who they are meant to be. If the names weren't next to each of them I wouldn't even be able to guess who most of them are suppose to be.

Edit: this actually made me curious, so I decided to search tumblr for a One Piece character who's face is a big part of her design. It's not a hard face to draw ether. I didn't even have to search long before I found her drawn looking like that fat pink Steven Universe character.
