Seriously why does a 'good' design have to be ugly or 'unconventionally attractive' and modest as all hell?
From what I've seen, combination of a lot of things. Projection, feelings of inadequacy, jealousy, laziness*, a seething desire to "stick it to the man" while getting "praised for their creativity, ingenuity and bucking of beauty trends", there's a lot going on here, basically.

*This is in terms of creating their own hideously designed original characters. Transforming, say, the Powerpuff Girls into morbidly obese, handicapped WOCs wrestling with debilitating mental illnesses brings in the notes and the ass-pats.

I don't know about any of you guys, but I think form-fitting boob compartment armor would be comfy as shit.

Anyway, what's up with these kids making literally everything about sex? And why are they so butthurt about animated girls looking more attractive then them? Seriously why does a 'good' design have to be ugly or 'unconventionally attractive' and modest as all hell? Feels a little restrictive.
I know what you mean about the sex obsession. I remember one time BBAD made a snide comment about a female army medic character who had knee pads and that she probably uses them to give blow jobs while disregarding her as a medic because of what she wears.

Or the Go Make Me a Sandwich lady's disgust that the Elf nurse tending a man in a pic who she accused of being "sexy" and will probably have sex with the male patient afterwards. Despite the fact that the female nurse is kinda plain and modest. (Since Archive is being a shit, here's the link for you to see you can do anything: https://gomakemeasandwich.wordpress.com/2015/09/03/dd-5e-core-books/)

I also noticed how much these people hate the idea of female characters who are gentle, is into healing, feminine, caring for children. When you think about it, if Sailor Moon was created today, these ladies would be ripping it apart instead of exalting it.

Into healing, feminine, caring for kids, and gentle. I know this sort of thing can be a cliched character type but then again, it's not like every female healer could be the gentle kind and on that same note, one can take these tropes or character devices or whatever they are called and be flexible with them but then again, those complaining about these wouldn't care since it doesn't fit the mold that they expect a character to have.

Ironic that alleged feminists have an issue with femininity.
Some would probably say femininity could be the tool of the patriarchy. Even then, one would wonder if they know what femininity is.

To be honest, when I sat down to try to explain just why this made me so angry, all I could muster was the urge to furiously bang my keyboard.

God damn, you've got it to a T. It's kind of sad that their understanding of characters and art is limited to how "progressive" it/they are. [edit- replied wrong]

Got to love how this artist made one of them white a year ago, only to make him black a year later.

Also I don't get what is with these artists and their weird ass shading. Like it doesn't make sense at all; they really need to teach themselves about proper lighting and shades.

That being said, here's what these characters actually look like:

Why do both of the girls have skull deformations? I mean seriously, look at where their noses are to their mouths!?!

Dang, the first work was actually really cute and I loved the style a lot, the artist showed a really neat understanding of colour and shapes.

One year later you can tell that Tumblr's now their go-to for art help, how sad is it that their cute, unique style devolved so quickly into the same damn thing seen all over tumblr? Geez.

Also, what is it with Homestuck being such a goldmine for shitty tumblrstyle art and bad headcanons?

The characters' designs are pretty open interpretation.

Showing what the actual Homestuck characters look like and claiming them to be white is inaccurate, since they're colored that way because they're canonically aracial. The creator has specifically said that he doesn't care what assorted appearance headcanons people have for his characters, and that they're all pretty much valid.

That being said, however... this art is still really, really fucking bad.

I also find it funny that all these tumblrinas scream "DIVERSITY!!1!" in their artwork even though they make every single character the same 'POC' race. Diversity means you have a diverse cast of races. Y'know, like how it is in real life? Four black characters does not a diverse cast make.

Nonono, "diversity" in Tumblr-speak means "No whites allowed."

Understandable, I just wanted to showcase how they appear in the comic is all.

i don't even know where to start with this
I can see wanting to give them all distinct appearances (since the girls in the 2nd picture all have the same face), but there is such a thing as too much.

That's definitely an example of too much. And not quite sure why the artist who wants to give them distinct appearances has given them all pretty much the same weirdly pointy nose..
