Japanese people tend to laugh at Western SJWs trying to impose their values and dogma into their culture. That's the main reason Manga and Anime is beating the shit out of anything the west has produced in recent years.
There was a feminist group that got triggered about a village or something using I think a Vtuber or some kind of idol to promote road safety. They got their panties twisted because she was "too revealing". I think they even got to go to the town hall but they pretty much got laughed out of the building.

Is Kimono girl actually japanese native? or is she a westerner that moved to japan?
judging by her behavior, definitely the latter.

There's quite a lack of details here so allow me to explain: Linca Tojou, a VTuber from Matsudo, in the Chiba prefecture, collaborated with the local police department, out of love for her city, to release a video starring her in which she gives tips to kids on road safety (bike safety to be more precise, in Japan using the bicycle for everything is very common). These sort of collabs are pretty popular in Japan as VTubers have the same charisma as mascot costumes.

However, the AFER, a Japanese feminist organization, sent an "open letter" to the police department accusing them of posting an inappropriate video because the VTuber's design in question was apparently too risqué for them (mainly her midriff being visible, her skirt being "too short" and the jiggle physics, so "muh sexualixed underaged girls"), and the video got taken down. While the police department justified the take down of the video under the pretense of people having missed the point on it being a PSA (because of the drama obviously), it was obviously because of the backlash the VTuber was receiving, something they wanted to avoid at all costs.

Anyways, no trips to any town halls, it was just an open letter and the AFER got so much backlash for it online they tried to backtrack and say that they did NOT ask the Chiba police to take down the video but, well, the intent was absolute there.

Not much else happened to the VTuber as much as I know, she's still in good terms with the local police and pretty sure this drama helped push her career. You can even watch the video in question on YT still.

If this screenshot I fished out of Twitter is legit, allegedly she's "mixed Japanese". Judging by this picture and the photo in her diploma, I don't know, her eyeshape does incline for it to be true, but she's also definitely got a lot of white in her.

What even is a kimono school exactly? Why would you need classes to wear a traditional garment?
Found some info about that here.
Long story short:
After WWII people weren't wearing kimonos because of economic problems after the war and western clothing was cheaper and easier to wear.
The schools exist to keep the tradition alive and because Kimonos are now mostly for formal occasions like weddings and such.

Thank your for the info and corrections. I did type it with info off the top of my head that I saw long ago.

Interesting, that makes sense.

I have a hard time believing this chick is half Japanese but who can say. Tons of people are half Asian without monolids. I wonder if she’s salty since hafu/biracial people are looked down on in Japan. And people say America is the “most racist country on planet Earth.”

You can use your eyeliner to give you that asian curve to your eyes. Dunno if that's what's happening here but it's a thing.

The responses to this are pretty funny and not what I was expecting from Twitter:

Guess someone is learning unless you’re brown Twitter does not give a fuck about “cultural inaccuracies.”

I guess the mixed is probably 0000.1 jap

I think Kimono Expert posted her diploma somewhere in her Twitter spergout. If someone has access I'd be appreciative because, frankly, I don't necessarily believe her about graduating. Formal schools for traditional Japanese arts like kimono fashion don't like graduating tards for exactly this kind of situation.

I posted a screencap a few pages back. She's QRTing a seperate account, which is still hers.

edit: she's way less rabid on this account than she is on her fag grand order stan account.

My kanji's rusty but it looks legit to me. Fuck me they graduated her. Maybe she keeps her spergery to Twitter.
she could be a fucking grand kimono sensei and i wouldn't give a shit and neither should anyone else. reserve that discipline for real-life kimono students or enthusiasts, not artwork. everyone knows giving art 'advice' on the internet is like talking to a brick wall.

I mean, I agree, I'm just so used to people online lying about this sort of thing that I'm flabbergasted to find someone was telling the truth.

I've seen more art of women wearing kimonos "incorrectly" by Japanese artists than I have by westerners. I guess she knew none of these ecchi artists would give a shit if she said it in Japanese, though.

I've just came back to the thread just to read about the kimono affair :story: this is the most retarded thing I've just came across this year, especially the lame excuse of being 'Kimono expert'.

I always find this kind of things not just cringy but also creepy. Regardless of how you feel about Dream, this is pretty messed up. Specially when its a clear fetish disguised as a "representation".
Remind me how people ship actors, not the characters they play, the actors themselves.

the more I see this “anatomy out the window, colors adjusted to be as jarringly ugly as possible” style the more I dislike it. the artist seems to have a decent command of line work (the lines look sketched while still being intentional) so it’s a shame they’re doing this.
Spoiler: Anyway, here's sundrop with vitiligo
2017 (??) musical YouTube animatic art style strikes again— now with pointless and poorly rendered rare skin conditions!
