i recently saw a thread about this blow up on /g/ and im curious the farms take on the issue personally i think ross ulbrict should be freed and that his sentence is too far but i know some will disagree discuss
 
he, well, thought he was doing some pretty horrendous shit
none of it may have happened, but it was still directed to be done by him
and thats not taking into consideration what else was sold on that site as custom orders with little to no details of what it was hint hint it could be literally anything, its a blank transaction
and thats also not taking into consideration the kind of resources this type of marketplace gave to serious drug king pins who are not cool and are not your friends
no matter what way you slice it, he was an actual bad dude, he may look harmless but he could certainly type "kill this guy" just fine

I don't think he should be serving life without the possibility of parole just for Silk Road. If you add in the attempted contract killings, sure, though he was not convicted for those. But all in all, I don't care.
 
For hiring contract killers and getting caught BY LEAVING HIS LAPTOP LOGGED INTO SILK ROAD OPEN IN PUBLIC! Yes, he was retarded and deserves it. If he didn't do those things then no he shouldn't but he did
 
The sentence for silk road was extreme and the feds blatantly were trying to make an example out of him, I definitely would get behind a shorter term for that, however murder for hire is over the line. That alone warrants serious punishment, maybe not as extreme as he got but absolutely something severe.

was quite a big deal after Silk Road. It was quite something. And he would have got away with it as well if he hadn't used his real name and email address to sign up for one of the servers he ran. Or something like that. It was a rookie mistake and you can read all about it in the links I just posted. If you care. I think it might even still be going now and taken over by someone else. Don't think you can hire a hitman anymore (I haven't tried lately), which is nice.

I wonder if he really did hang himself.

If Joshnullmoon was arrested for making a website, I'd fight that, but Ross commited tons of crimes and even ordered hits on a few people. Too far.

Even if you're some brain rotted pot smoking retard who thinks cocaine is based and redpilled, there's reasons to hate Ulbricht:
  • He liked to play pretend at executing people irl that were inconvenient to his shit website. Luckily he was such a spastic it turned out he got scammed by random idiots and feds every time.
  • His website was such a poorly coded piece of shit that it led to dealers getting busted galore. IIRC feds backdoored the messaging system but even before then, it was an insecure piece of shit so they were able to reveal interactions before it as backdoored anyway
  • The only people really hardcore advocating for him are his parents (who think he dindu nuffin) and they publish outright lies constantly to try and manipulate people
