Do you have a binaural microphone (the stereo headphones with the microphones in fake ears)? They're not too cheap (usually starting around $300 U.S. although I haven't checked "used" prices) but you can MacGyver one together for under $100.

Obviously you don't need the camera if you're only recording audio files.

A binaural mic makes a huge difference for ASMR compared to just recording it on your phone.

I still posit this video is way better than most of the current landscape, and it's a 20+ year old recording that is compressed to all hell.

Figuring out if you can still get your hands on the sedtera or whatever it's called audio mixing algorithm would help. Spatial audio has downgraded since the 2000s in every way other than the quality of the microphone itself.
