Should I kill this spoder or spare its life?

There is a little spoder in my basement. It cannnot be down here, as spoder-kind is not welcome into the holy grounds of the basement. I have told its kin, multiple times, that their kind is not appreciated here. I have previously slain one of their own, in an act of holy and righteous retribution, to send a message to all of the spoder-people who would dare venture into the depths of Kurmudgeon's basement.

Shall I slay it for the sin of disobedience, or shall I spare it, allowing it to bring my message to its people?

You could probably find out what species it is by browsing through inaturalist. If they keep coming to your dungeon despite the danger then it's likely that they're chasing after food(ze boogs) or want humid conditions. If you find out the species you can figure what it is and make it so they stop coming down there.

I say let it free, so you have less to clean up.

I believe that Steve was a wolf spider. Steve was a well-behaved guest, and did not fuss when asked nicely to leave. After a bit of gentle coaxing from combined powers of The Cup and Paper Towel, Steve complied and was safely transported off the premises so that he may continue his hunt for ants and flies. This may be the beginning of a long-standing alliance between the Basement Dwellers and the Spoders. As springtime begins, the Flies are rallying their troops and increasing their numbers, and we may need all the help we can get.

And for the record, I didn't mean to kill his friend but I squished him by accident the other day and I still feel bad about it :(

Steve is now a friend, he deserved to be treated as such. He will be a valuable ally against the flies who are somehow getting into my basement now too. Flies get no mercy. I'll clap them up any day, but the spoders will be gently escorted outside from now on. The Cup and Paper Towel are tools of humanity, not destruction, and will remain in my basement as a sign of our lasting friendship, and so I can remove other spoders who find their way into the depths.

Crickets can fuck off though, they're also the spiders' enemies. We're gonna have an insect vs arachnid race war localized entirely in my basement.
