Sent a tip to a local 'crime stoppers' organization since their police station doesn't take tips through email and obviously it's kinda hard to link people's tumblrs over a phone. Ain't posting the specific photo/blog since I'm not stupid but I'll report any follow-up since they ask you to come back and they'll tell you the status of your tip. Also following the blog in question obviously.

They were dumb enough to leave full-blown GPS data so it should be pretty easy. This shit's gonna be like Christmas morning.

She doesn't buy it anyway.

The thing is, her Exif only pointed to central Canada. I don't know whether it's in Sasketchewan or Alberta. What do?
Well now she's gonna be a lot more careful about what she posts, making her that much harder to catch, and she might go spreading the word that someone's going after her, making others cover their tracks too. I'm just saying, it looks like you're trying to let all the fish out of the barrel then claim you're trolling the fish.

If she has pictures of herself on her blog, and if she also gives locations of her shoplifting, I would recommend sending archives of her selfies and her blog to various shops she's hit all over central Canada. Obviously this is a fool's errand and you've probably done goofed anyway but that's the only thought that came to mind.

Aye. This fish is gone. I'll let a day or two go by before I try anything again. That time, I'll keep it hush hush.

Unless the EXIF data is specific enough to go to a house you're wasting everyone's time.

Why would you let her know? Now she's going to delete fucking everything, and while you have archives, I'm sure the cops would rather see it live. Plus she's gonna chimp out so much harder if she gets a visit from the police and has no idea why or how she was caught.

Actually, destroying evidence would then become part of an additional obstruction of justice charge.

Once someone is well and truly fucked, everything they do to try to get out of it just makes it worse.

The wriggling is part of the fun!

Also - not sure how to inform local PD (Denton, TX), the form they provide is only for reporting crimes which you're the victim of. Anyone got ideas?
They've listed the emails of quite a few people in their investigations bureau. I'm not sure which division you should email though, perhaps General Investigations?

Edit: Alternatively, the Denton County sheriff has an online tip form. http://dentoncounty.com/Departments/Sheriff/Crime-Prevention/Crime-Stoppers.aspx

Thanks for the information. I sent a tip to Denton County sheriff. Let's hope they do something.

Is it better to send it to the police though, or to the stores in the area where these people lift from? At least the police in my state are sort of "eh" about shoplifting unless they get called by/to the actual store. Stores however can be fucking ruthless about prosecuting shoplifters and a shoplifter being blacklisted from their favorite haunt seems like it'd produce a funnier chimpout.
This is a pretty good one as well. If we can find out which stores they lift at, and send those stores pictures of said lifters, I think getting them caught could happen faster.

I'm not too good with stuff like this, so I'm just going to sit back and watch.

Stuff like this makes me Proud to be a Kiwi. You guys are the best. Keep up the good work.

Right, so I found contact info to make sure I contacted the right guy, most likely the dad of the shoplift queenie here.
This is the email I wrote, redacted all the names. I did actually use my own name in this, since I am not afraid anything will happen, and I want to gain trust (because I want these idiots punished).

I doubt you'll get a response, it reads like boilerplate junk mail from a surveying company and if I was him I'd delete it after reading two sentences, if even that. You should have prominently displayed a 'UR DAUGHTER IS SHOPLIFTING' right near the start.

from one of the blogs-

is doxing illegal? no, not when using publicly available info. do you know what is illegal though? shoplifting.

I mean what does she think she's going to do- "hey yeah id like to report that some people on the internet have published my address from photos i published of property i stole."

10/10 great plan.
