Protip: Putting "I don't think he's a sexual predator" in front of accusations of this caliber doesn't make it not defamation, you fat, dumb fuck. That's like how people in the south say "bless his heart" before ripping someone a new asshole. It doesn't make it not shitty.

It's not a "silly conversation" Shane. Ron has to prove his statements are true in court in order to prevail. If he said Vic assaulted 100 women, he needs to be able to prove that is true - starting with their names and contact details.

You're right that it's not perjury, because the original tweets weren't statements made under oath. They have not, however, been retracted despite legal requests to retract them.

But they are still defamatory and to raise a defence of truth the defendant need to prove that those public statements are true. Stop thinking that it doesn't matter because they're "only on Twitter". They're equally defamatory whether they're published on Twitter, in a book, or in a newspaper.

Whatever happened to "don't put anything online you wouldn't be happy to see on the front page of the NYT" - people used to live by that rule back in the early days of the internet.

I can actually see this happening. Like in the middle of the case Ty or Nick will say something about developments in the case and Shame will tweet something smart like "well I was talking to Ron last night and he told me something totally different, he said X." And then Ty will be in those replies shortly with a "We'll be in touch."
 
It's like, that's cool Shane, the investigation could have been about a million things, that's not really relevant. Now that all these people and Funimation have publicly made defamatory comments they'll need to provide their evidence. And it would have been a lot smarter to show up at the offices of BHBH and have a quiet conversation with Primarch Beard about all the juicy stuff you know and can prove, thereby squashing the lawsuit before it wrecked your life and finances.

And translating through Shane's stupid, I bet if I said a rapist raped 100 people and he actually only raped 10, the judge would probably say "close enough" because the 90 false ones weren't adding any damages the 10 true ones hadn't caused already. But they don't have 89, they don't have 10, they don't have 1, whatever he wants to call defamation and libel. I wish Shane were important enough in any way whatsoever to be worth suing, but he never ever will be.
