Thanks to Nightdive consistently knocking it out of the fucking park with their re-releases, I now have two new favourite games of all time, System Shock and Shadow Man.

Games I've both attempted to play through emulation (Dosbox and PJ64) before but couldn't get working properly, that have been out for more than 20 years.

Shadow Man Remastered in particular. Man, this game really is so fucking good and underrated. The story and lore is fascinating and unique, the controls are much better, the visuals and performance are fantastic, and the exploration and Metroid style progression are just awesome. The music is great but I'm not really a fan of the more ambient tracks, and the voice acting is pretty good for the time. Shadow Man himself is such an interesting character, and I appreciate the differences in tone and delivery between Michael and Shadow Man.

The lack of a map does hurt it a little bit but I do find myself memorising the environments eventually.

Anyway, as sad as it is that my favourite developer literally only remasters old abandonware titles (barring that forever fucking doomed System Shock remake) I thought I'd make a thread about Nightdive.

I haven't played Shadow Man since the N64 release. I don't remember much about it except that I liked it a lot back then. I'm actually going to buy the Switch version now you reminded me it existed.

Nightdiive is awesome. I see they are bringing Exhumed/Power Slave out soon. It's another game I have some fond but vague memories of. My brother owned the Saturn release and i spent a lot of time watching him play it.

I've always wanted to play Doom 64 and PowerSlave, but before I could play the EX versions of them, they were taken down to be remade. Kaiser is awesome, the KEX Engine is so good.

Doom 64 was a nice chance of pace, as someone who really enjoyed the atmosphere of Doom 3 (I really wish they'd kept the hand-held torch in BFG Edition).

I actually just finished getting Mednafen working so I could play the Saturn version; even though there's a PS1 version which is much easier to emulate, I heard it wasn't as good as the Saturn one. But now the remaster is coming out, I'll hold off on it.
