I think there is still some issues with attachments. Attachments appear in the threads but you can’t open them in new tabs. Also is this on purpose with the “you will own nothing and be happy” avatar image :story:

total nightmare scenario indeed; the moment I heard that it was all four disks at once my heart skipped a beat. God knows that would've been the end of this place if not for Sir Slobbermutt's incredible back-up habits.

Back-up your back-ups of your back-ups, people, the few hours max it'll probably take in a worst-case scenario is more than worth it

If you buy a set of tires that had the same manufacturing flaw and they wear out equally then you will have all tires failing at once.

It's just shit luck when buying a few drives manufactured on the same day with the same flaw. Avoidable by buying drives from various batches or simply various manufacturers. Backblaze does it constantly.

how does that happen? some power surge going through the board and frying them all? but most boards and power supplies should have built in protection against such things.

And fuck dick ridding, this is not what it's all about. The fact that we're shitposting about Jews, trannies, and whatever the fuck we feel like it on a web site run by a true and honest Jew (see Matrilineality in Judaism), with tech support from a transgender person, and that struggles to stay online due to "reasons" and a chin squared no dong motherfucker, should tell you enough about the current state of society.

Speaking of Backups have you considered investing on some tapes for long term storage of the Farms content? Linear Tape-Open is the format of choice for extreme high end data storage, and you could probably keep all of the Farms on 2 or 3 LTO-8 tapes, or a single LTO-9 tape if you were willing to compress it. They are a bit slow due to the linear way they read back but given you would only really be using them for backups and restores that isn't much of a issue.

Could be something to look into for the future.

Modern servers have hotswappable disks on the front of the server. The backplate of that disk array connects to the motherboard.

There might be a few cached errors, but that should go away in an hour. If not, I can't restore it. I think the only images that may be broken were uploaded before I fixed the attachment system.
