They usually feed that into proprietary voice recognition (old ass algos which are trained on the reporters voice) and clean it up later, a little more efficient than transcribing your steno by hand, but the most efficient thing is just learning to use the fucking steno-type. Imagine doing everything twice, because you suck at your job. Any proper stenotype with inbuild computer, outputs almost ready to use writing, if you have a good custom dictionary and latex goes a long way to auto-magically turn it into sleek print outs and/or pdfs. Additionally, I'd feel like a tool for stammering everything said into the mask-thing like a retard addled by echolalia. I'm not sure how common steno mask really is, but I don't think it's more common than stenotype. Steno type is easy to learn, if one can into touch typing qwerty - which I'd think is a given for all peeps doing court reportingMost stenographers in the US don't even do the shorthand thing any more, they whisper into these stenomask contraptions strapped to their face and then transcribe it later.
