This is an awesome idea for a board.
Another good thread could be laws around being self sufficient. There's a lot of different ways the government can fuck you and it's good to be aware of them.
OY mate ye got a food growin loicense??

Over the last two years I've been building a homestead.

Just recently I finished replacing all my cookware with cast iron.

I hatch my own chickens and ducks and soon will be breeding rabbits.

Next year I plan to get goats.

I built a greenhouse out of scrap (but was able to replace it with a great deal from facebook marketplace)

Its been a slow process because I don't have any seed money to get started, just small leftovers every month after bills. I think I'll be "done" (you're never done) in maybe 3 more years.

Whatever I can answer or help with I will, I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Here is a photo of my first cucumber growing, I plan to pickle and can everything for overwinter.

Would home power-backups be on-topic here? been looking at ways to keep the lights on in case a storm knocks out the power again.
Get a electrician to install a transfer switch, along with a generator hookup on the transfer switch.
Then find a generator that runs on diesel and has a 240 volt output.

A guy did this on YouTube and it was really good.

It's not a perfect solution but if you have a car and live in an area you can keep it running, you can buy a power converter to change your car outlets into regular house outlets.

Then you can use that in an emergency to charge devices or run lights for a period of time, preferably not all day long.

Great idea here. I don't know if it's just me, but I'm so fuckign burnt out of politics and culture war bullshit, be very nice to have a place to share some stuff.

Or, just install it yourself.
Also, if you don't need automation then a simple interlock is cheaper and easier, and more legal than a suicide cord.

On the generator side, if you're going smaller then inverters are better since they have better frequency regulation and cleaner output, small non-inverter generators don't track frequency well and can make UPSes and some computers unhappy. Bigger stuff will have cleaner output.

Many normal people can get by with an interlock and an inlet and a portable generator. Provided you can teach the wife how to use it if you have one.

For your bunker you're in atutomatic transfer switch and fixed generator land.

This genre of topics tends to be the one KF is the worst at. I abandoned most of the gun/homestead threads a while ago due to how much bad advice was being thrown around, and how adamant some people were to defend it.

Wait until you get someone with 10+ negligent discharges telling all the newbies that it's a totally normal thing for every gun owner to do, and half the thread calls you a safety conscience faggot for even pointing out how big of a problem that is. You'd probably get better advice on /k/. I don't know why but these topics are a magnet for larping bullshit and rednecks.

This is cool, I've been getting antsy and wanting to get into many of these topics. I feel the pot is getting close to boiling over and its making me nervous. My plants died so I'm off to a great start there... *sigh*

🤷‍♂️ I tried looking at /k/ and it was just troon shit even on the thread for .308. It's a useless dead gay website.

Much like gardening, things need attention and time to grow.
