Im going to start a project growing tobacco to get the bugs away from me when I go out to smoke. Seems like a pretty good solution to grow what you smoke in order to keep bugs away while smoking

I don't know if this fits this thread, but here is some resources and offline softwares that can be useful if there is no internet.
In case you can't open epub, DjVu and other file formats that books might come in.
It's retarded hoard a bunch of files, only for you to not be able to open them up when you do need them.

Maps (note that they are not as up to date as google maps and other paid GPS maps)

I think it goes without saying, but I will mention it anyways: Don't rely on electronics, in this case a phone/computer to access info. Consider using printed maps and books/notes for crucial information that you might need.

@Null I’m thinking about starting a thread to discuss historical and contemporary warfare and tactics, something that could be useful if a boogaloo or boogaloos happen. I’ll put a disclaimer against fedposting, but I’m concerned that such a thread will cause problems for the site. Thoughts?
Go for it. As long as it isn't actively discussing attacks on existing institutions I don't think any glowneighbors give a shit.

Car thread may make sense here?
I think that thread is probably too general for this board. A thread on vehicles that can survive in various doomsday situations (i.e. EMP) would be nice, or what kind of old diesel cars would last and be easiest to maintain.

On that note, lockpicking?

Would home power-backups be on-topic here? been looking at ways to keep the lights on in case a storm knocks out the power again.

Fantastic idea, I have been lurking farming/prepper groups for tips and the autism is out of control in all directions.

This sewing thread never got very far and it’s more female-oriented as a hobby, but I firmly believe making your own clothes, gear, mending and so on are self-sufficiency skills.

Another good thread could be laws around being self sufficient. There's a lot of different ways the government can fuck you and it's good to be aware of them.
