Sega must be desperate to have these reboots/remakes/whatever be successful in sales

When has there ever been merchandise (outside of maybe t-shirts) for Streets Of Rage before?

They also have one for Altered Beast

They're apparently not THAT desperate for it to be a success, since said SoR reboot is apparently in the hands of a Canadian developer:

And who is this illustrious developer? A little studio by the name of Komi Games! Let's take a look at some of their previous work!

I'd say Axel and pals are in very good hands indeed!

Lead Developer of Use Your Words? That game that Brentalfloss designed?

Mighty Fight Federation is probably a clue as to what the next Streets of Rage will be like. I own it, but cbf to play it. Maybe it's nice. Probably not, if it really is Canadian.

Idk about you guys but I like SEGA games. Some Sonic titles, streets of rage, classic 80s/90s SEGA arcade ports/obscure games (Comix Zone, Ristar) & even Yakuza.

Part of me thinks SEGA’s death coincides with the death of arcade gaming. Especially in the year 1995 when arcade gaming really fell off (and PC gaming rose subsequently) SEGA was unable to adapt with the times. Their main bread and butter was always arcade ports to their consoles. By the time the Dreamcast rolled around, Sega tried to shift to story driven games (Shenmue, Sonic Adventure) but their declining arcade business and their myriad of failures (Sega CD, 32X, Nomad, and Saturn) between 1992-1997 caught up to them and Sony/Nintendo simply had more clout/respect to the consumer and produced games for the next generation

I’m glad SEGA is bringing back their old franchises, but it took them their sweet ass time.

The lineup of games looks really bad but the CEO is a genuine SEGA fanboy and has a couple of slightly more impressive credits like working on King of Fighters XV
I'm still pretty pessimistic about it but there's at least a grain or two of hope

SoR 5 - Mobile Tactics Pachinko edition
if this was konami

How hard can it be to simply do a SoR game like SoR:R? This guy singlehandedly did better than the team that worked on Streets of Woke 4,

Imo, the only hope is that the CEO's online moniker is Bomberlink.

By the way, we should make a new "op" listing all of their shit decisions since when SEGA was created, I'm pretty sure there are some doozies even back in the 80s, I heard that their "best games" are always fucked by management during development some way or another (such as during SA2 when the devs dealing with management constantly cutting times and funds, iirc)

I'm just going to put it out there that I believe the Dreamcast is pretty much correctly rated by the majority of people. It had a number of great games and was ahead of it's time in many ways (SEGAnet forcing you to pay money to play online, hall effect analog stick), but speaking as someone who owns a Dreamcast and loves it to death, it also features far too many infuriating and downright confusing design choices, including:

VMUs eat batteries even when not in use and stuck in the controller. When they're out of juice, they beep loudly on console startup.

GD-Roms are quite possibly the worst optical media format ever used on a home console. They contain denser grooves allowing more storage than a CD, but to allow the standard laser to read the denser grooves, the protective layer was made approximately half the length of a normal CD. The end result of this is that the discs are far more prone to damage than any other optical format (barring laserdiscs, they don't count) as well as rot. It also prevents conventional disc resurfacing due to using a special thin layer.

The VMU sucks as a memory card. Same size as the PS1's cards but with bigger save files. If you want to play any of the VMU-specific games (Chao minigames from Sonic Adventure or Pocket GT from Sega GT come to mind), you essentially need an empty VMU exclusively for that purpose. Oh yeah, and more batteries to power that VMU.

The controller has the same single-stick layout with analog triggers shared with the Saturn pad, but with 2 fewer buttons. This was partially due to the intent being that first-person games would be played with a keyboard and mouse peripheral; however, said peripheral is now expensive ($60-100) and hard to come by.

The Saturn (which I do not own), on the other hand, was niche at best and dogshit at it's worst for 95% of the library. The 5% of games that justify getting it today often run into 3 figures due to scalping. At the end of the day, it's now pretty much unobtainable to collect for. The controllers are great, however,
Plus, they all cry "piracy" when SEGA added the biggest backdoors of all time, in the format of that Music Video disk that went unused and that skipped all AP checks. I can't even come up with a joke for this, it's already hilarious as it is.
The Dreamcast era is a doozy, good thing everything is still up on the clearnet, because between interviews and cancelled projects, you can see that the Dreamcast failed because it was managed by SEGA.
What makes me laugh is that the second Sega compilation game for the DC had developer comments on how to add custom roms on their emulator.

Like Konami, SEGA is most likely still afloat due to Arcades, Mobile adwares and gambling shit.

Sega won me over then, 'cause I could've just as easily ran out and grabbed a new console (since they were fairly cheap at the time).
They didn't do that out of kindness of their heart. It's like when Nintendo was giving out free shit during the Wii U days, or why AMD open-sourced their video drivers: Marketing.
I've had a similar experience with a PS2 when after telling someone about my broken DS2 controller, that guy went and gave me a brand new DS2 controller free of charge. (it is worth mentioning that the PS4 was already out at the time).

I still wish for another game like PSO2 that isn't an MMO.

I can already tell it's going to suck.

It'll most likely be a he-man rip-off that will add current year refferences and probably make one of the male characters homo or make Tyris a carpet-muncher that hates the other two guys because she's a strong womyn that needs no man or some shit... also probably with a retarded haircut.

That's horrifying.
It's gonna be "muh toxic masculinity" and all modern social network jokes since 2016 onwards.
"Everyone's" gonna talk about it for a week at best, and then they'll all collectively forget about it, maybe it's gonna crop up in a meme compilation at best. By "everyone" I meant the usual game journalist and retarded video maker.

I'd take dead over defiled.

I mean, it's a fucking shonen. How hard can it be to pick someone who made some action cartoons in the past and tell them to not suck at it? I wonder how a Gunstar Heroes series could work, it's basically a Saturday morning action cartoon like the Power Rangers/Super Sentai.
Honestly, I think that most old SEGA abandoned series like Ristar could work as animated series.
