I played Second Life starting right after the Anshe Chung incident. SA used to have a piece of land there. I had a lot of fun in SL back in the day. There was a lot of free stuff available. There used to be a promotion where you could teleport to different "Wishing Trees" and harvest Lindens from them. This was intended to encourage people to travel around and explore the place, since people tended to stay in the first comfortable public place they found. So first off, I spent a lot of time grinding those Wishing Trees. I'd make a new account, grind the trees, and transfer the Lindens to my old account. I racked up a few thousand Lindens that way.
I always used or modified the free stuff that was available in the markets. I never bought anything. At the time, child avatars were not available, but there were plenty of age players around. I made a very creepy little girl avatar that was smaller and more juvenile-looking than the average child avatar at the time, so it attracted a bit of notice. I simply modified an adult female avatar to be very small and flat-chested and dressed it in childlike clothes. I teamed up with some Patriotic Nigras who'd found one of those sky-high rape dungeons (those guys were more fun than the SA players tbh). We would go into bars and sex clubs, and two of the Patriotic Nigras would pretend to be drunk and rowdy and hit on woman avatars (no voice chat in those days) while I stood in the corner and piped up with disturbing comments like "Daddy, I'm hungry", or, if anybody talked to me directly, I'd say something like "Daddy hits me when he's mad." 99% of the time, all three of us would get kicked. Every once in a while, one of the "women" would agree to sex, or someone would proposition me, and we'd all teleport to the sky-high rape dungeon and secretly invite all our friends as well. A couple of times the Patriotic Nigras managed to blackmail some folks for Lindens because they were "cheating" on their in-game partners by going to the rape dungeon with us.
Another thing I remember is having an invisibility bracelet that I could toggle on and off. I'd put on a sexy woman avatar and travel to places where newbs tended to hang out and set it to "dancing". Inevitably, a crowd of thirsty dudes would show up and start trying to proposition me. I'd say something like "ewww, no" and toggle on the invisibility bracelet. Since they were newbs, they'd assume I'd teleported out, or even logged out of the game, and some of them were absolutely CRUSHED by getting rejected in their Second Life as well as their first. That one was pretty fun.
There were furry hunts and raids with other SA members, but honestly, those guys were such sperglords and tryhards that often we'd get kicked as a group in about 30 seconds. I had a lot more fun with the Patriotic Nigras because they understood subtlety and doing a slow burn, rather than just running in yelling "All your base are belong to us!!! Do you have stairs? Fiesta cat lol!" like the SA spergs always, always did.
Right before Voice Chat was about to drop, I was in the SA land working on an avatar or something by myself in the middle of the night. Two other SA people popped in and didn't notice I was there, or didn't care. One of them was talking about needing some Lindens for some project, and the other was enthusiastically recommending e-prostitution as an easy way of making Lindens, and talked the first guy into trying it. I knew from on-site interactions that they were both guys. Since I'd spent the last few months trolling e-whores with the Patriotic Nigras, I had nothing but contempt for them, and I had enough. Voice chat was going to ruin all my fun games anyway, so I logged off and didn't come back for several years.
When I did come back, the SA Land was gone. At least 50% of my old inventory was also gone. Most of the cool stuff, like the Wishing Trees and free markets were gone too. Most of the players had migrated onto private lands, and the place was a ghost town. Even the few genuinely cool and innovative places, like the Obstacle Course, were gone. It was all ads and empty places. I logged off for good. I had fun there, back in the day, but it was a shell of its former self, and even at its best, encouraged otherwise good people towards degenerate behavior in the name of fantasy.
I also remember having a tricked-out wheelchair that one of the Patriotic Nigras gave me, and sometimes we'd teleport into a furry sim and ride around like crazy, running into the furries, until we got kicked. Good times.
Edit: i also remembered another detail about SL---that's where I encountered Rat King
Laurelai Bailey. People used to be able to join chat through IRC and appear on the SA land without an avatar, and Laurelai did this on a regular basis. He got a load of my creepy pedobait avatar and BOY, did he love it. He was asking me tons of questions about it, and not being aware of Laurelai at the time, I thought he was interested in how I made it. Then the other goons started telling Laurelai to stfu and get out, and somebody filled me in on why I shouldn't talk to him. Everybody hated him. After that, I didn't use the pedobait avatar while on SA land. Laurelai turned into an even worse creeper than any of us imagined.
