There are people who are obsessed with putting pedophiles in woodchippers and nothing else. I think it’s suspicious. FWIW bail is, by literal definition in our Constitution, not supposed to be punitive... the point is just to ensure they don't flee the justice system. But $1500 does seem surprisingly low nonetheless.

If you don't expect (not think he might, but actually expect) them to commit more similar crimes or vanish to Mexico or something, then bail is supposed to be affordable based on the person's available resources; there's no legal justification for it otherwise, that's what you'd call "excessive" bail. I'd guess he just doesn't have much money and would have thought of $1500 as "a lot" -- well until now, when he finds out how much this is gonna cost him.

For better or worse (I'd say for the better), it's a justice system centered around protecting the innocent, in theory, anyway.

Not sure if it's applicable here but I do recall that under some jurisdictions you're only required to post 10% of your stated bond, meaning it's possible this critterfucker walked for $150.

There’s thousands of them. The sad reality is that government does not exactly give a fuck about animals regardless of the laws they have in place. Kero and Tim being the most known cases of “everyone knows yet nothing is being done” makes people think - how? Well, it’s quite simple. There is a large, in fact a massive correlation between zoosadism and pedophilia. So when we see a zoosadist being arrested, don’t think it’s because our lovely government cares about animals. It’s because they are caught either possessing CP or involved with minors directly. I highly doubt snakething would have been caught if not for his obsession over his little nephew and CP and same goes for this story’s villain. That’s why vigilante justice for zoo’s work the best, imo.
