Sir Sean Connery has died at the age of 90, his family has said.

The Scottish actor was best known for his portrayal of James Bond, being the first to bring the role to the big screen and appearing in seven of the spy thrillers.

His acting career spanned decades and his many awards included an Oscar, two Bafta awards and three Golden Globes.

Sir Sean's other films included The Hunt for Red October, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The Rock.

He was largely regarded as being the best actor to have played 007 in the long-running franchise, often being named as such in polls.

His Oscar came in 1988, when he was named best supporting actor for his role as an Irish cop in The Untouchables.

He was knighted by the Queen at Holyrood Palace in 2000.

In August, he celebrated his 90th birthday.

Another Scottish Legend deed. He was a fun actor to watch and he did seem to enjoy the rest of his retirement with his family and have fun with his grandweans, even being part of a Animated Scottish Kids movie just for them to enjoy as a last send off for them before he passed away (Too bad it's shit tho).

Rest in Peace Big Man. May he piss off every Unionist and slap Wamens up the silver clouds above.

Oh fuck, I just realised we only have two months left. I hope that Billy Connolly isn't next even if he's already on a timer as it is.

Fuck. RIP. Sad hes gone, happy to have enjoyed his work and that he was able to pass away in his sleep peacefully. Michael Caine better stick with us a little longer.

Sad, but expected.

Rest in Peace Sean Connery, may you be remembered for roles such as a British spy man and a guy that wore a red diaper with a bandoleer and thigh high boots.

Shame.
Think I'll rewatch Hunt For Red October to remind myself of his astounding Russian accent. So in character.

Someone already brought up one of the stories surrounding him IRL, have another one on the off chance it's true;

Hopefully he won't regenerate into Roger Moore this time

Earlier I was reminiscing with my brother about dressing up for Halloween as kids and he said, "I could've dressed up as Sean Connery today. That would've spooked some people."

He's a shitlord. Apple didn't fall far from where the first fell.

A moment of silence for Sean (and more silence from the women, if they know what's good for them).

Damn. I've never seen any movies of his outside The Rock that I can really remember but he was great in that. Seemed like a cool guy. Only Mel Gibson and Jack Nicholson left.

I didn't realize he was that old. Might be because even recently most of what I've seen of him has been from watching his old movies.

He wasn't wrong, sometimes you need to pop a woman in the chops.

No time like the present to get into James Bond then.

I guess it's inevitable that all the actors I like will eventually kick the bucket. They're all as old as dirt. It still hurts.
